Happy Tales
Every one of these Dachshunds has been rescued by an angel...
Harley's Brave Journey Harley's Story is a great inspiration to AADR because it shows that no matter how desperate the situation, saving one life makes the ultimate difference. DeeAnn, Harley's foster mom, has included her personal account with Harley's amazing story and where he is now.Harley was found homeless and sick. He only had a 50% chance of survival. Now he is living a life of true happiness and contentment. Read More...

Mindy 2...NC
Mindy is doing absolutely wonderful! We are madly in love with her!!!! She has taken real well to our other doxie Murphy and he seems to be fine with her. They sleep together and she follows him everywhere. She also is fine with our cat and the grandkids adore her. So she is just a perfect fit for our family.
I'm working from home today and she is here beside me on my bed while I'm on the computer. I think she is adjusting well. She is a little less skiddish than she was that first week so she is starting to trust us and feel comfortable in our home. We took her to visit my daughter in Charleston over the weekend. She traveled fine and did well the whole weekend. As I said, we are all just smitten with her.
I'm attaching a photo from this weekend. She was sitting on the sofa at my daughter's house beside Murphy. I looked and realized somehow he had his paw around her. It was just too cute!
Thanks again for all your help in the adoption process and continued success. My best to you and your family!
Anne
BELA..AL
Hi Angela -
I'm sorry it has taken me so long to send you a picture of Bela, but she it's hard to keep her in one place very long. She is doing fine, such a sweet baby.
Holly Noelie...KS
Holly has been an amazing addition to our family. She came into a home with my husband, myself, a long hair dachshund and a yellow lab. Holly fit in right away! She spent days watching what the other 2 dogs do and then would copy them. This has been funny and problematic. She has learned to sleep all night with dad and all day with mom, (I am a night shift pediatric nurse) but has learned to bark at me when she wants dinner, just like the other 2! :)
We have learned that she loves to be in the big bed, especially when it's cloudy and snowy. Holly is not a fan of snow!
My husband and I think she is pretty excited about being in a family that involves sleeping in the big bed, walks and belly rubs.
Holly is a loving, spunky, cuddly and funny dog and we can't imagine our lives without her. Thank you for this opportunity to make our home her forever home. We are truly blessed to have her.

Knox..MI
Hello Angie,
Sorry for the delay in responding...I am so busy fooling around with Knox (so many belly rubs, so little time) that not much gets done.
Knox is settling in very well. He is funny and sweet and very energetic for an older dog Everyday just gets better as he becomes more at home with us. He is very playful, which we enjoy enormously.. the house is littered with dog toys now we have to watch were we step. He loves to go for walks but clearly is a southern gentleman...he does not like the snow or cold temperatures. Knox copes with this by lying on the warm air heat vents in the house. Curled up on a lap and wrapped in a blanket is also another popular coping mechanism.
Knox is the perfect little buddy for us. We can't thank All American Dachshund Rescue and Kathleen enough for providing this wonderful service. By the way, our vet complimented Kathleen on Knox's health. Dr. Bell noted that Knox was in excellent health and condition...not something he sees very often with rescue dogs.
Lloyd and I will send some photos in the next few days.
Best,
Janet
Little (aka Buddy)..DC
Buddy is doing great. I think his adjustment is going along well and he is comfortable in the new home. He is also in a relatively consistent routine that he seems to enjoy. He's a great addition to the home and an excellent friend.
