Meet Mindy2

Mindy came from a hoarder situation in NC. Mindy is a SWEET, SWEET girl that doesn’t have one aggressive bone in her little body. If you are looking for a quiet, sweet loving lap dog then look no further. Mindy is very nervous in her new surroundings, (hey who wouldn’t be after 9 years of living in the same situation) but she is handling it well.  She is a timid at first but loves to be a couch potato and curl up beside someone and watch TV. She likes to sleep in the big bed and once you show Mindy her side of the bed, she stays there all night and doesn’t move. Mindy is very quiet and doesn’t bark or whine. In addition, she is totally housetrained and holds it until she is taken outside. She adores her foster brothers and sister.  Mindy would do great with another small dog but she would also do well alone. We feel a home with another small dog would be best for her so they can help her learn the ropes of her forever home & help her get more comfortable. Mindy walks great on a leash and loves to go on walks in the park and visit the dog park. She totally ignores the cats in her foster home. She is fine with her foster home’s human children, but the smaller child makes her more nervous with her fast movements – again no aggressiveness here, just nervous!

When Mindy went to her first vet appointment she had to lose several teeth. She is handling it like a champ, but may need to be on soften food going forward.

We just know that Mindy is going to come around fast & learn what its like to be totally smothered with love.

If you think that you could give this sweet baby the forever home she SO deserves please fill out an online application.

We will not adopt into the state of  CT or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this you need to take this up with your legislatures. We are working hard to get approved to bring dogs into the state of NH and until that happens we can not adopt to anyone in that state either.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
