Happy Tales
Every one of these Dachshunds has been rescued by an angel...
Harley's Brave Journey Harley's Story is a great inspiration to AADR because it shows that no matter how desperate the situation, saving one life makes the ultimate difference. DeeAnn, Harley's foster mom, has included her personal account with Harley's amazing story and where he is now.Harley was found homeless and sick. He only had a 50% chance of survival. Now he is living a life of true happiness and contentment. Read More...

Amelia...MD
Sorry it has taken me so long to respond! I adopted Amelia, who I now call "Lilly". She is an adorable little doxie that has warmed my heart. She was from a puppy mill until she was 18 months old and had a litter of puppies there. She then came to me from her foster Mom and you would never know what she has been through. She is still extremely scared of men, but we are working on it and hoping she will come around. She loves women and is such a cuddle bug and lap dog. She follows me everywhere and loves being next to me. I am so happy I have her now and can provide her a life she would have never even known in the puppy mill. I have attached some pictures! Thank you so much for everything you do at the rescue! ~KR
SASSY...GA
Sassy (Now Cassie!'s foster mom got this email: Hi Debbie,
One year ago today I adopted Cassie from your foster care. She is doing just fine and is my constant companion.
Just wanted you to know what a great job your organization does.
Thanks again.

Franklin...NC
From the moment Frankie entered the house, it was home. He has been super fantastic. I love his confidence and happy-go-lucky style. In my opinion, given his history, he treats each day as a new puppy adventure. When he hears Pepper, a neighbor's Jack Russell, barking, his tail becomes a fully engaged helicopter and off he skips to the back fence area where Pepper is often located.
I attached a photo so you can see how happy and alert he is. The black fuzzy in the photo is my Niko, bergamasco, rare breed, Italian Sheepherding dog. Niko is 80 pounds to Franklin's 9. Size does not matter to either one of them. - having fun with me is what counts.
Frankie's leg muscles have developed very well. He walks for 45 minutes daily with Niko, Wee Willie Winkle (miniature poodle mix) and myself. He keeps up perfectly and is smiling the entire way. It would be unthinkable to him to not go.
He is getting lots of exercise here and sleeps through the night without incident. The first night, I put him in his crate. Oh stars in the heavens, the vocalization of protest was enormous. Then Niko and Willie joined the chorus. Needless to say after 10 minutes, I installed Frankie in bed with Willie and myself. We all got a good night's sleep. The next day, I packed the crate into the garage.
Frankie is well behaved. I have complete confidence when I go out for errands or my every other weekend part time job at my vet's that all is well. He never disappoints.
Thank you so much for rescuing this little fellow. He is a joy to me and my pack.

Kissy...PA
Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. I had the flu for the first 2 weeks that Kissy was with us. (Started the day I had to drive to pick her up!) So welcoming her into our family got off to a much slower start than I had planned. But now that I am well, we are having fun taking her for family walks and playing in the yard with her and Quincy (our other dachshund). They have warmed up to one another. They enjoy laying in the sun by the front door together. She is an absolute delight. She is happy to jump up on a lap and get comfy. ~Danya
Romeo 4 & Juliet...TN
Romeo and Julie are just great. Romeo has come out of his shell, and is learning to be an outgoing doggie. He no longer drools, he's very affectionate, and wants to do what we want him to - when it's not overridden by his dachshund instincts (like seeing squirrels, etc.) Julie is just a happy sweet little dog. She would okay anywhere, I think. They are such a pleasure. I'm sure glad we went on ahead and got them. ~ Buck & Nancy
