BIO:

We want Romeo and Juliet to be adopted together. They belong together! We will ofter catch them hassling each other either in the yard or home. They don't sleep together but do love to play togehter and get along very well. Romeo will use the doggie door but Juliet needs to be taken out and watched and rewarded for going potty outside so she will need a strict schedule.

They will bark at other dogs, neighbors and door bells so you will an alarm system. At night they are gated in room and sleep all through the night till morning with no fuss.

Romeo and Juliet really need a fenced in yard so they can run and play, a doggie door would be a plus but not a must and children 5 and up would be great as long as they know how to treat dogs. We know we are asking a lot but Romeo and Juliet have gone through a lot so they deserve to find that special home together.

Romeo and Juliet are just the best dogs. Came from NY, mother took the dogs away from her drug abusing daughter. She then gave them to another fellow rescuer and she contracted us to take them.  They are the best.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
