Animal Success Stories
Happy Tales
Every one of these Dachshunds has been rescued by an angel...
Harley's Brave Journey Harley's Story is a great inspiration to AADR because it shows that no matter how desperate the situation, saving one life makes the ultimate difference. DeeAnn, Harley's foster mom, has included her personal account with Harley's amazing story and where he is now.Harley was found homeless and sick. He only had a 50% chance of survival. Now he is living a life of true happiness and contentment. Read More...

Robin #2...FL
Robin has been doing excellent. When we took her to her first checkup with our vet at the beginning of this month, he was really pleased with not just how she looked health-wise but her behavior as well, especially considering she'd been a stray. She's getting along great with our other two dogs as well--they tried to boss her around at first, but she quickly asserted herself as the diva not to be messed with. ;) Now they play together, share toys, nap together on the dog bed, etc. Real brothers and sister.
Truly, she's a joy to be around, always full of excitement and love. We don't have too many pictures, but if I manage to get any good ones soon I'll send them your way. Thanks for checking up on her, we really appreciate it. :)

REX... TN
Rex is now called Gandalf, he has a
furry white chest that gives the appearance of a long white beard and
we are big Lord of the Ring fans. It didn't take him long to learn his
name, he is very smart!
We had adopted our sweet Annie ( doxie mix) from AADR two years ago
this August. She has been such a joy and we were wanting a pal for
her. We got Annie from Diane and we knew if we got another dog, we
would go through AADR. All the animals are so well cared for and your
organization is excellent in making sure all the animals are matched
up well.
Since Annie has to be the princess, I contacted Diane, who knows
Annie's personality, and sure enough, she said she had the perfect boy
for us!!!
Annie wasn't going to have it at first, but I knew Diane would help
and she had wonderful advice for handling Annie. It took Annie just
two days, after speaking to Diane, to snap out of it and now they are
just like two peas in a pod. She has been such a sweetheart showing
him the ropes. Annie was taught to play tag with us and it only took
us a little over two weeks to get Gandalf to play along, he even
starts the game sometimes. They are bringing such joy to our home and
we are extremely lucky to have them both.
We appreciate your organization for all you do . From taking them in,
taking excellent care of them , and matching them with their new
forever homes, you guys ROCK!!!
Sincerely,
Renee G.
Rusty 7...NY
A note from Rusty's forever mom: Rusty is doing GREAT! He has fit in nicely to the family. He is so well behaved and cute as all. Attached are a few pictures of Rusty- how he looked when we got him, after being groomed by a professional dog handler and with his new (11 yrs. old) brother Hershey. I could not have wished for anything better. Thank you Sharon
Romeo 4 & Juliet...TN
Romeo and Julie are just great. Romeo has come out of his shell, and is learning to be an outgoing doggie. He no longer drools, he's very affectionate, and wants to do what we want him to - when it's not overridden by his dachshund instincts (like seeing squirrels, etc.) Julie is just a happy sweet little dog. She would okay anywhere, I think. They are such a pleasure. I'm sure glad we went on ahead and got them. ~ Buck & Nancy
Rocky...NY
From Rocky's forever home: He's doing really well, gets along great with my room mate and her dog, and when I go home my parents treat him like he is their grandchild! I enrolled us in training classes at petsmart to bond and socialize, he is a little scared of the bigger dogs but otherwise does great! We are still working on potty training but I think a lot of his accidents happen because it is cold outside and doesn't like being out long! I have some pictures on my laptop that I can send to you tomorrow! Thanks for checking in if I think of any questions I will be sure to send you an email!
