BIO: Lila came from West Tennessee when her owner could no longer care for her. She was a little timid at first but has opened up to be a sweet fun-loving little girl. Lila does this cute “bunny hop” when she runs. We don’t know why she chooses to do this. During her initial medical, we had her back, legs, and hips x-rayed but nothing was found out of the norm. Lila loves to play so it’s best she goes to a home with another young, small, playful dog. She really wants to be your best friend and gets excited when you come home. She will need to go to a home with no steps and be taught not to jump off couches, beds, or chairs.
Our must haves for sweet Lila are:
- A fenced in yard
- Another young, small dog for her to play with
- Someone that can be home more than not
- Must not be allowed to jump or do a lot of stairs
- No apartments, high rises or condos
If you meet these requirements then please contact us for more info on this sweet girl or fill out an application. After we check your vet reference, we will then call you to tell you all about her and give you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
If you are approved to adopt her, you’ll be her 3rd home in her young life. She is a sweet girl who deserves the best forever after.
============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.
If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.
There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.
We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
