Happy Tales

Every one of these Dachshunds has been rescued by an angel...

Harley's Brave Journey   Harley's Story is a great inspiration to AADR because it shows that no matter how desperate the situation, saving one life makes the ultimate difference. DeeAnn, Harley's foster mom, has included her personal account with Harley's amazing story and where he is now.Harley was found homeless and sick. He only had a 50% chance of survival. Now he is living a life of true happiness and contentment. Read More...

Arlette...MI

Ginger (Arlette) We looked through her paperwork once we got her home and discovered that for 5 years of her life she was called Ginger and since she didn't answer to Arlette, we just started calling her Ginger. She is doing very well. The first couple weeks she was very quiet and wouldn't do anything outside, so we set up an old baby crib and put it right next to our bed. During the day she was out with our 5 other little dogs but at night she slept in the crib in bed along with a puppy pad, food and water. That's when she would go potty and poop. Today, however, was an exciting day at our house. Not only has she been getting up and running to the door when we said "let's go potty" but today when she went outside, she actually went potty. She seemed very proud of herself. Anyway, she's eating goodd and Emma our little Yorkie keeps bringing her toys to play with. A sign that she was calming down was when we saw her pull one of the toys Emma brought her closer to where she was laying. She watches us with curiosity and now knows the word "treat." Our foster home had told us that she couldn't do steps because her legs were so short but she doesn't have any problem going up and down the 3 steps off our back deck and into the fenced in yard. She's still not fond of leashes but we're waiting until spring when we can go for walks. She came from southern Tennessee to us in northern Michigan so the weather is quite different. Anyway, I've attached a photo of her and we just love her to death. In the picture you can see Morley, the Monkey, one of Emma's favorite toys that she left for Ginger in her bed.

Asher...ME

Asher's foster mom got this picture from his forever home! Asher was adopted in March 2011.

Aubie 2...FL

Aubie is doing great, he is a love bug, He gets along well with my other rescue Wire-haired dachshund Katie Rose . He loves to walk on the beach, he found a big fish on the shore the other day and ate his head.. Haha A real hunter, and he protects me barking at other dogs:)) He is potty trained now, he follows me everywhere and even if asleep on the couch , wakes up the moment he hears someone in the kitchen! His fave place in the house cause there is food!! And of course he looooves cuddling ... I love him! Thank u for everything that you guys do to find a good home for all the Dachshunds in the US.

Aiden...GA

We have renamed Aiden to Ferrell to go with Farley. He has loved all his classes that we have taken and he enjoys hanging out with us and our friends' dogs. He is such a cuddle bug and he wrestles with Farley and they are just the best of buddies now. We will be working on getting our AKC Canine Good Citizen certifications potentially starting Rally or Agility classes in the spring. We are so very thankful for having him in our lives. We will definitely recomend AADR to anyone who is interested in adopting a Dachshund in the future. Thank you very much for checking on our little buddy and feel free t
