Animal Success Stories
Happy Tales
Every one of these Dachshunds has been rescued by an angel...
Harley's Brave Journey Harley's Story is a great inspiration to AADR because it shows that no matter how desperate the situation, saving one life makes the ultimate difference. DeeAnn, Harley's foster mom, has included her personal account with Harley's amazing story and where he is now.Harley was found homeless and sick. He only had a 50% chance of survival. Now he is living a life of true happiness and contentment. Read More...

Gracie 3...Canada
Gracie is doing good, my other 3 doxies have finally accepted her. She is still very skittish, esp around food , so we keep her separated at feeding times. We also are finally enjoying some warmer weather and she loves being outside in the yard...About 10 days ago we were still getting snow , and she hated the cold. She is a bed hog and loves to cuddle up close, and gives lots of kisses, we absolutely adore her ,she is getting all the love and attention she missed all her life. Shes getting better at going for walks on a leash , it helps when there is another dog walking with her, but she tends to stay behind you not sure what shes suppose to do...We live on 2 1/2 acres and have a small fenced yard for them , as we speak we are building a huge fenced in running area , so they can be off leash and explore the grounds, as of now when we take her out of the fenced yard, she needs to be on leash and i can see she wants to run around with the others , so bigger and better things to come for her in the near future...
Flicker..PA
Flicker's Former foster parents forwarded us this email about her (now known as Lacey)" Lacey is doing great. She is such a spitfire and a big boldy that we love to pieces. The picture is of her from back in February when she was spayed (notice her booboo paw where she had her intravenous. She loves playing with my parents’ dog (Lucky) who is about 6 months older than her. She gets ssssooooo excited when either I or my husband comes home from work and usually squizzles on the floor. She is in her chewing stage (for which we try to keep rawhide bones around for) and has chewed on wooden things in the house, sticks in the yard, etc. We scold her when she gets bold like that but it’s pretty difficult to stay mad at her when she jumps on your lap and starts kissing your face to say she’s sorry. She is definitely the highlight of a day when work has been a bad day. She enjoys tormenting her kitty brother (who is 10 yrs old and just likes to lounge around). In fact, she has pretty much ripped to shreds all his kitty toys. I call it payback for when the kitty tormented our beagle before she passed away. But for the most part, they get along good too.
We hope her birth brother’s parents are as happy with him as we are with her (she sends a “Woof, woof” his way).
Thanks again for being great foster parents,
Faith & Scot H.
Bart 2...TN
Bart is doing great. He comes to work with me every day, and has made friends with everyone in the office. At first he barked at visitors to the building, but has gotten better and better about not doing that as he gets settled in. He also has quit barking nearly as much at neighbors and workers in my condo complex. Obviously, he is feeling much more secure and at-home.
Bart arrived 99% house-broken. Someone put a lot of good attention into training Bart for him to end-up abandoned.
I've learned it is hard to walk a hound on a leash, as Bart's nose dictates where he wants to go. But he is getting better about that. For the most part, he is a very well behaved little doggie.
We have our first vet appointment this afternoon, just to get him established there.
I am not much of a camera buff. I submitted pics when I registered his chip, for identification purposes, but don't have any that are good enough to submit to the site.
I will say that I strongly recommend adopting from a rescue operation in general and All-American Dachshund Rescue in particular. It is a great way to get a high-quality pet, and to know what to expect with no unpleasant surprises, while giving a deserving pet a good home. I knew that I wanted to adopt instead of supporting a breeder at this point, but had no idea that it was possible to rescue a small pure-breed such as a Dachshund (in keeping with my complex's 20 lb weight limit) until a friend who is a foster home for AADR introduced me to your website. So I am very grateful.
Thank you.
Alan
Hector..MD
Hector is adjusting well and we all love him very much!! He has a lot of energy and keeping my 5 yr old wein active. Lol. Hector LOVES his backyard and his doggy door so he can come and go as he pleases. He loves bunnies and tries to catch them and follows their scent for hours. He is very funny and very sweet & loving. He loves attention and enjoys being pet. He's pretty much attached to me when I'm home. ~ Amy
Bonnie...NY
Bonnie is now called Rosy and she is doing great! She is a real sweetheart and a very good girl. She is the first doxie I've ever known who plays fetch and actually gives you the toy after retrieving it! Rosy and I have been going to 'Courteous Canines' classes and she is learning so much. What a little smarty pants she is! I just love this little girl and am so happy to have her in my family. Thank you AADR for rescuing Rosy and sending her my way.
