Happy Tales

Every one of these Dachshunds has been rescued by an angel...

Harley's Brave Journey   Harley's Story is a great inspiration to AADR because it shows that no matter how desperate the situation, saving one life makes the ultimate difference. DeeAnn, Harley's foster mom, has included her personal account with Harley's amazing story and where he is now.Harley was found homeless and sick. He only had a 50% chance of survival. Now he is living a life of true happiness and contentment. Read More...

Sophie #7...TN

Sophie is doing just great. She loves her new big sister, Greta (a 4 year old doxie), they play together alot. She's still adjusting to our cat, Mia but she's getting better with her each day. Sophie has also gained a little weight since we first got her, so she looks really great now. I have attached a picture. We love having Sophie in our family. Thanks for asking about her. ~ Judy

Tandy...FL
Tandy...FL

She is doing great! She got some misinformation somehow that it was OK to poop in the dining room. I started her and Oscar (the little boy I adopted a few weeks before Tandy from AADR(now Kandy Kane, because she is so sweet) on a schedule. I am up at 6:30 or so, I feed them then we immediately go for a long walk. Whenever she poops or pees on the walk she gets a treat (actually it is just a piece of kibble from her Hill’s Science Diet W/D food and is taken from the amount I usually feed her). I take them out again around 10 or so and then again after their evening meal with the same routine. For the past 4 or 5 weeks she has not pooped in the house at all. She sleeps right next to me under the covers and Oscar sleeps in his bed on top of the covers. They play and play and when I throw the ball, I never know who is going to bring it back. I recently bought a figurine from Hot Diggity Dogs of a little dachshund in a red and white striped candy cane. It sits on my desk at work to remind me of my sweet girl. Thanks, AADR for these sweet dogs. Kandy is the 4th dog I have adopted in the past 10 years. Lyn

LuAnnie...FL

Hi Angie, thanks for the email; I would like to let all of you know she is a wonderful being, she has gotten used to the craziness we have here (2 big labs, by the way, as expected she is the one dominating her big brothers). She has gained 3 lbs. since she is with me, and still a little bit afraid of noises, but getting used to them. I have gotten her to poop outside every night (great news), once in a while she has a pee inside. In fact, everything has turned out to be so great with her, she looks and act just the same as my previous dashchie Fabiola (she was 15 yrs old). At first, she got really scared whenever my husband talked, but now they even take naps together (really sweet). THANKS so much for all your great work.

Steve...NJ

Stevie is doing great he adjusted so well in a matter of days. He is spoiled just like the other 4 in the picture. He weighs 12lbs not sure what he weighed when we got him but he deffinetly gained some weight. My other pups adore him and taught him so much I LOVE HIM AND KNEW THIS WAS THE PLACE FOR HIM THE MINUTE I SAW HIM .... Theresa Stevie is second to right side only one looking at camra lol

Ivan #2...AL

Ivan is doing great! He has not had any problems adjusting--moved right in and stole our hearts! He truly is a perfect fit for us right now. His calm, easy-going personality fit our quiet home. I work at home now so he is a wonderful companion to have at my side all day. He is taking good, long walks with me and enjoys weekends at Lake Martin. We are very pleased we adopted. We have found Ivan to be just as he was portrayed in his description. I've attached two pictures of Ivan--one at home looking out into the back yard and one riding on the boat. As long as he is with us, it doesn't matter where we go! You may use these pictures on your website or FB. Also, our daughter has some pictures of her holding Ivan, so I'll check with her and send some of those too. Thank you so much for checking in with us and for what you do for these adorable dachshunds! Blessings, Nancy
