Animal Success Stories
Happy Tales
Every one of these Dachshunds has been rescued by an angel...
Harley's Brave Journey Harley's Story is a great inspiration to AADR because it shows that no matter how desperate the situation, saving one life makes the ultimate difference. DeeAnn, Harley's foster mom, has included her personal account with Harley's amazing story and where he is now.Harley was found homeless and sick. He only had a 50% chance of survival. Now he is living a life of true happiness and contentment. Read More...

Peanut & Theo...CT
Boys are great! As you can see Peanut has Chris wrapped around his little paw. Theo still dances to a different drummer. Chris has taken them both to obedience school. Theo is definitely interested in trying all alternative options before deciding to do what you ask him. He is quite a character. I know if I can't see him he's probably doing something he's not supposed to. The very best thing is their close relationship with each other. We really love them and feel very lucky to have them as part of our four-legged family. I hope you and yours are happy, healthy and have a wonderful New Year.
Cheri, Chris, Peanut and Theo.
Odin...TN
Thanks for inquiring about Odin. He is doing just great! When I adopted him, he had had prior back issues and was considered a 'special needs' dachshund, but since I've had him he has shown absolutely no back problems at all. I have another dog that is half wire-hair dachshund/half wire-hair terrier and the two of them have become best buddies. They sleep, eat, and play together and love their afternoon walks. I am so thankful that I adopted Odin and I know that he is very happy here in his forever home.
Here are a couple of photos of Odin and his 'brother' McDougal (also adopted, Grainger County Humane Society). I have been keeping in touch with Jennie Wood, Odin's foster 'mom', and have sent her numerous photos of Odin and McDougal. She said that Odin looks very happy in his pictures.
Bear #4...NC
Thanks for reaching out about an update on Bear. I'm not sure if you are aware but I am also a volunteer with AADR! I was Bear's foster mommy and we ended up adopting him.
He has adjusted really well. He has made his personal trail in our backyard where he runs the perimeter of the fence! He has also let it be known to the local squirrels that there is a new sheriff in town lol.
Bear has fit right in with the rest of the pack. Here is a picture. Bear is very active so it is a bit hard to capture a picture if me. However I find the picture below a cute one of him.
Copper#2...TN
Copper is doing very well. We love him and he's fitting in just fine! Thanks

Ariel...TN
Ariel ("Macy") is doing great! She has been such a blessing to our lives and has already brought us many laughs :)
We just took her to the vet yesterday for her needed vaccinations and a check-up. She is in good health and is a normal, energetic puppy!
We apologize for not getting back to y'all sooner --- it has been a busy time at work for me and every time we thought about reaching out it slipped our minds.
We love that she is a part of our family, now, and are grateful for all of the AADR volunteers that made her journey to us possible!
