Happy Tales
Every one of these Dachshunds has been rescued by an angel...
Harley's Brave Journey Harley's Story is a great inspiration to AADR because it shows that no matter how desperate the situation, saving one life makes the ultimate difference. DeeAnn, Harley's foster mom, has included her personal account with Harley's amazing story and where he is now.Harley was found homeless and sick. He only had a 50% chance of survival. Now he is living a life of true happiness and contentment. Read More...

Pinky...TN
No story here except in pictures. Pinky was adopted by Ms. Ruth and it looks like she has travelled from the path of a high-kill shelter where AADR found her to the lap of luxury! From probably a plastic water dish and a hard floor to...crystal food and water dishes! Pinky, you are living the high life and we are so very happy for you and your wonderful forever mom!
Pizazz...MI
Bobo (black and tan), now named Bogie & Pizazz, now named Elvis were adopted from AADR last year.. They are really sweet boys who love to go for a ride any time they can!
Prissy 2..OH
Angie,
I am sorry I haven't replied to your e-mail sooner. The holidays were busy and then we were getting ready to head for Florida. Yes, Prissy is with us here in Florida and we love her bunches. She adapted so well and she just loves to be close to us, so yes, she is in her forever home. I will take some pictures and send a more detailed letter soon. Thanks for keeping in touch and please keep up the good work...so many Daschunds need you!!
Sincerely...Bev
PRECIOUS...TN
Thought you would like a update on Precious. She is our number
one squirrel chaser, has learned to get along with our cat K-D, and
is best friends with our other dachshund, Sadie. She has done well
with house training, and is quite the opposite personality wise of
Sadie, who is quite vocal when company comes to the door. We are so
lucky to have found her, and she is a treasured member of our
family. Thank you for your work with rescuing these wonderful dogs.
The Harris'
Patience...TN
I am so gratified that you are checking up on Patience. I am truly impressed that your organization is taking the time to follow up on her well being.
The adjustment is going well overall. There have been a few downs, but mostly ups. She has only been with us for 7 weeks, so in the grand scheme of things, I am pleased with her to no end.
She did test positive for hookworms, but that has been treated and she is now negative.
It is obvious that she has been abused in her past life. When you go to pick her up, she cowers down, almost to the point where she looks like she's trying to urinate. This will get better with time. Lots of love and play time with Dixie (my other mini-doxie) and Tatum (my Cardigan Welsh Corgi) and I'm confident that she will come to understand that she no longer has to be afraid.
Last night we had a terrible thunderstorm come through and I discovered that she does not like the thunder and lightening. I mean she was really terrified. I have checked into these "thunder shirts" and wonder if you know anything about them. The reviews that I have read suggest that it works for some dogs and not others.
She has one of the most wonderful temperments of any dog I have been around. Despite the fact that her life was not so hot until she was rescued, she is just as friendly as she can be. She has the most round and precious eyes as well. She's been a great addition to the household and she is not going anywhere. Thanks for the opportunity to rescue her.
