Happy Tales

Every one of these Dachshunds has been rescued by an angel...

Harley's Brave Journey   Harley's Story is a great inspiration to AADR because it shows that no matter how desperate the situation, saving one life makes the ultimate difference. DeeAnn, Harley's foster mom, has included her personal account with Harley's amazing story and where he is now.Harley was found homeless and sick. He only had a 50% chance of survival. Now he is living a life of true happiness and contentment. Read More...

Sammy#4 & Charlie#11

I actually adopted Sammy and Charlie and they are doing fabulously! They have adjusted so well and are just a joy! Sammy and Charlie are the new "stars" in my neighborhood and everyone loves them. I am so happy we all found each other. Everyone asks where I got them so AADR is getting some awesome press in Tampa! Thank you for connecting me with these wonderful dachshunds. We are a happy family!!!! Gae

"Scout" is doing great. She is so full of life and love. She gives lots of kisses is learning our family and routine easily.

Boone....KY

Arlo ('Boone') is adjusting very well. He had a rough start with the long travels, the neuter, and the final trip to Kentucky. He was exhausted! He got home Friday evening and I think he finally got off of the couch around Sunday afternoon. Lol. His incisions have healed nicely and he and his brother, Willie, are still in the 'getting to know you' stage but they're doing great. He's a fantastic dog, and fits in very well with our family. He loves to cuddle and bury himself under the blanket when sleeping. He enjoys lounging in his own lounging chair under the umbrella out by the pool. We are so very fortunate to have been chosen to be Arlo's family. He has already stolen our hearts....I think even Willies. A simple 'thank you' will never be enough.

(Now Lacey) Lacey is doing just fine. She was very afraid at first: of the neighbor’s dogs, the blowing leaves in the trees, car noises and kids noise in the area. She now is much more comfortable with her surrounding. She races around the coffee table like a crazy rabbit. She drags all the toys under our bed or into her bed as though they all belong to her. She is eating better and the housebreaking has improved. It was hard for her to go potty outside when she was so scared but now she actually runs around out there. Becoming more comfortable is the key and time is the solution to that.

Aspen...NY

Aspen is doing great, he's an absolute delight and has settled into city living extremely well. He brings tons of joy to everyone he sees in NYC and I am not exaggerating when I say we cannot go for a single walk without smiles and conversations. He is an excellent poster child for rescuing a dog. I was very specific in what I was looking for, and I had a lot of dealbreakers (good health, housebroken, etc). I was starting to wonder if I'd ever find a dog through rescue after looking for a couple of moths. Fortunately the folks at AADR were kind enough to take the time and care to communicate with me extensively about different dogs. Aspen's foster parents did a great job acclimating him to a new home and learning his personality so I had a lot of info up front. They even drove him down to me, which was also enormously kind of them. People cannot believe Aspen was adopted because he is so agreeable and pleasant. He's never had an accident in the house, is great on the leash and rides the subway with me like a seasoned commuter! A lot of people are surprised that such a wonderful guy could have ended up in rescue, so I imagine he'd be a great ambassador. I've sent some photos to Diane and the families who helped me adopt Aspen so I will try and dig those out so you can see what he's been up to. Thanks for checking in. Best, Lizzie
