BIO

Aspen came from a high kill shelter in AR. We are not sure if he was a stray or turned in by his owners. He’s a very sweet boy that just wants to be loved. He likes lap time and will either sleep in the big bed or in a doggie bed. He loves to be outside so a fenced in yard would be best of an active family that would spend time with him walking him on a leash. He does well with other dogs does get a little jealous sometimes if they are horning in on his attention time but with a stern no he stops. We don’t know about cats, we don’t have any.

When we leave we crate him and he’s just fine with that if you’ll just put a treat in there he’ll be there until you get back.

Consider giving Aspen his next forever home he’ll give you unending love and devotion for your efforts.

More about Aspen...NY

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
