Happy Tales
Every one of these Dachshunds has been rescued by an angel...
Harley's Brave Journey Harley's Story is a great inspiration to AADR because it shows that no matter how desperate the situation, saving one life makes the ultimate difference. DeeAnn, Harley's foster mom, has included her personal account with Harley's amazing story and where he is now.Harley was found homeless and sick. He only had a 50% chance of survival. Now he is living a life of true happiness and contentment. Read More...

Eli #3...TN
Kasper (formerly Eli) is doing fabulous. He just had his last round of shots and we will have him neutered as soon as his adult teeth come in (just in case any baby teeth are retained and need to be removed). He is growing like a weed and now weighs in at 9lbs. He is super snuggly and sweet and loves to give kisses. I will send some pictures in a separate email.
Stacia
Joey...KS
"Sparky" Bob (previously Joey) is the kindest, sweetest, most loving doxie we have ever had the pleasure to "own us". Our matriarch, Zoey, fell in love with him the first minute he walked in the door. We have never seen her react to another dog that way. Diane was right. Dominate females sometimes do better with males.
He loves to hunt "critters" in our yard with Zoey and he loves to play, play, play with Ginger. They are all a perfect combination. They provide us so much entertainment and joy. He also has enjoyed our present foster, Nolan. (Nolan enjoys them all....talk about outgoing and happy!)
We are so happy we made the decision to adopt Sparky! He is our second AADR adoption and we so appreciate all you do for doxies! He is one of the loves of our lives for sure!
Deanna
Honey Bee...NC
Honey Bee is doing wonderfully. Stella (also an AADR rescue) is getting along with her, they are not actively playing with each other, but they are not fighting. They lay together on the sofa and will share a bed without getting possessive. So, I believe we are all a fit. We hike and I just bought a Doggy trailer for my bicycle and the two of them enjoy the ride.
Honey has claimed a toy duck and all though she will share it when it is free she goes and gets it.
We are in love with her for sure. She was under weight when she came to us and she is just about normal weight now.
Mia...TN
My name is Anthony from Memphis, Tennessee, and I am the proud "Daddy" of this sweet, beautiful, affectionate, and loving little mini-doxie named "Mia." I believe the Holy Spirit sent her to me because she came such a long way --- all the way from far up North, in Vermont & New York --- down to me here in the "Land of the Delta Blues." On August 25, 2013, I met a two-person transport team in Jackson, Tennessee where I first met Mia, and it was love at first sight between her and I. Immediately, this little girl ran up to me and when I started to pet her (with no hesitation, shyness, growling, or barking) she rolled over and let me start rubbing her tiny tummy. She loves playing with her over-abundance of toys which practically litter all the floors of my home now. Suffice it to say, I have and love to thoroughly spoil this baby dachshund.
Mia is now 3 years old and doing marvelously. She enjoys our frequent visits to the dog parks; has two Australian Cattle Dog "cousins" of my mother's who she visits at least once a month and loves to play with; goes on 4 times weekly jogs with me; and generally loves and has adapted so well to all of my family and dear friends. My life would be lacking a special joy if I hadn't adopted this sweet, special dog. In other news of note, Mia recently placed 3rd in the Annual "Running of the Wee
nies," an event that is part of an annual suburban festival specifically for dachshunds in the Memphis area.
She has made several trips with me to Cullman, Alabama; New Orleans, Nashville, and even felt the sand of the beach in Seaside, Florida beneath her little paws. I wish to send out a special "Thank You & God Bless you!" to Mia's foster prior to my adopting her. Her name is Angela, and she is an incredible person who clearly loved Mia so dearly and even thinks of her to this day. I appreciate you're taking care of this baby dog who now has brought such joy in companionship into my life! In closing, let me say that AADR is incredible in all their endeavors to "save one until there are none. Mia was certainly worth saving! Be sure that I'll continue to shower her with an abundance of love for as long as I am able.
Choo Choo...MD
Choo-Choo is the sweetest, most loving and mellow dog. She is so well behaved, perfectly house trained (zero accidents in the house), and loves to snuggle. She has adapted beautifully, loves playing with all her toys. I have a quarter acre property and the entire property, front and back yard, are all fenced in so she gets to run and explore through the gardens with her new sister, Zsu-Zsu.
Since Choo-Choo rhymes with Zsu-Zsu, I changed Choo-Choo's name to Cricket, to reduce confusion. I loved the name Choo-Choo and hated to change it, but she's already getting used to Cricket and comes when I call her.
From the beginning I noted she seemed a bit limited in mobility, possible hip dysplasia but she's been on an organic grain-free diet and gets organic glucosamine/chondroitin supplements every day and within a week or two, her mobility improved dramatically.
Here are a couple pictures of Cricket snoozing. She curls up against me every night in bed, she gets right under the covers!
Please do stay in touch! Judy
