Mia came in from Birmingham, AL where she was surrender for us to help her and her babies find forever homes. Mia is a sweet sweet little girl that will be a true mini and is also what’s called a “Chiweenie” Dachshund-Chihuahua.

She loves to play with the other young dogs in the foster home and is a delight to have . She is working very hard on her housetraining and with a doggie door she’s doing great in a home without one she’d require a schedule and can be crated when the owners are gone. We want a fenced in yard for our sweetie and another playful dog to keep her active and happy. If you are interested in Mia please e mail foster mom for more info or go right to the application and fill out the application. We are not sure she’d make a good apartment dog as she is like a dachshund and does like to bark at strange noises and such but in time she could get used to the hustle and bustle of city life.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If they choose transporting by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, there will be an additional $35 Fee for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this you need to take this up with your legislatures.

We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of 35.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another 35.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.

To understand the adoption process through AADR please visit the Adoption Information.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.

More about Mia...TN

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
