Happy Tales

Every one of these Dachshunds has been rescued by an angel...

Harley's Brave Journey   Harley's Story is a great inspiration to AADR because it shows that no matter how desperate the situation, saving one life makes the ultimate difference. DeeAnn, Harley's foster mom, has included her personal account with Harley's amazing story and where he is now.Harley was found homeless and sick. He only had a 50% chance of survival. Now he is living a life of true happiness and contentment. Read More...

Precious number 4.....MD

Giblet is doing SO well!  I can't believe it's only been a couple of weeks.  She gets along with our other dogs like they've been together for years.  It's such a perfect fit!  She loves napping in the sun, cuddling and sharing a bed.  She's been doing great with her housebreaking.  She's had a few accidents in the house, but is adjusting very well.  She enjoys exploring our yard and running around the house with Bean (our other mini-dachshund).  My husband and I just adore her.  Though she may have come from a not-so-great situation, she must have been well socialized.  She's great with people and other dogs.  She's even started playing with toys.  She hasn't quite figured out fetch, but will chase the toys when thrown.  We took her to the vet for a check up.  She's in great health and has remained on her diet.  We have a follow up appointment tomorrow, so we'll get to see if the diet is working.  Giblet truly is a joy!

Thank you so much for all you do.  We couldn't be happier with our rescue!  I have attached a few pictures of her enjoying her new home.

Poncho number 2.....TN

We adopted Norman (the Red) a few years ago (Normie when we are baby talking to him).  We renamed Poncho to another old man name, so we came up with Ralph and Ralphie when he is being a sweet boy. You know how it is!   Well, I am sure you didn’t want the family album but I think our Ralphie is happy and adjusted. He has become spoiled but we did it to him, so it’s ok. I didn’t realize how many sweaters he has until I saw all the pictures. I try to dress the boys alike for our walks just in case something happens. Norman loves Ralph and just lets Ralph take over. That works out fine because Ralphie is really good at taking over… hahaha. He is a sweet little boy and cannot get enough loving so I try to give him all he wants. Ralph already knows his name, he knows to sit and to stay and where his home is when walking. I love the little booger so much. It seems like we have had him more than two weeks, it feels like he has always been with us. He went to Lowes with us and was a perfect gentleman. I have ordered the boys car seats so they can see out the window.

Pepper #3.....NH

Pepper is doing great! He's been a wonderful addition to our family. He had his vet visit last Friday and got a good report. He loves to snuggle these are pictures from around Christmas.

Persimmon...TN

She loves to go for rides in the car and enjoys her walk every night. The vet says her weight is great. She is looking nice and trim. She still takes thyroid medication and has some medication for her feet and her eye. As you can see Persimmon likes to burrow into blankets, towels, whatever! She found the pile of dirty towels and burrowed right in. She looked so cute, I left her there! I have a rabbit and she gets along well with Willow, mostly ignoring her. All in all, a great companion.

Peaches #3...IL

Things are going great!  I'm calling her Daisy and every derivative of that name possible ; ) -- Daisy Mae, Mayberry, Miss Mae, Maybelline and many more!  She loves going outside, chasing leaves and butterflies, barking at cars to slow down and playing fetch with her dachshund and ladybug toys.  We're still working on potty training but she's so sweet it's hard to be mad at her.  Most of my pictures are blurry because she prefers playing to sitting still so here are a couple and a video with my other dog Jinx - they're practically twins : )
