Animal Success Stories
Happy Tales
Every one of these Dachshunds has been rescued by an angel...
Harley's Brave Journey Harley's Story is a great inspiration to AADR because it shows that no matter how desperate the situation, saving one life makes the ultimate difference. DeeAnn, Harley's foster mom, has included her personal account with Harley's amazing story and where he is now.Harley was found homeless and sick. He only had a 50% chance of survival. Now he is living a life of true happiness and contentment. Read More...

MAX..AL
Hello...
Max wanted me to check in with you...He's been in his forever home for a year now and he's doing great. He has such a fun little personality. Max certainly knows how to make sure his wishes are known. He's not a barker...until...
Max loves to be in our laps...wherever we are he wants to be. Lizzie (our cat) and he play at "attacking" each other. He and Maverick our other dog look out for each other...both are older dogs. They are SO cute walking around the yard together. I attached a picture of them asleep on the floor together.
Thanks again for rescuing him...he is such a blessing and has enriched our lives more than we could have imagined. We love him dearly!!
We can't figure out how to update him on the website, so we wanted to let you know that he is well and a very important part of our family.
THANK YOU!
Sheila & Michael G.
Vida..NJ
Hi,
Vida wanted me to send you this pic of her celebration wiggle wiggle because 1 year ago today she came home to her fur-ever family. We cannot thank you and all the folks at AADR for finding, saving, fostering, and transporting our little princess. Life is sooo much better with Vida in it. We love her and we love you.
Until they all find homes,
Karen, Jim & Vida
Heidi #2...MD
Here are a few pics of Bella (Heidi#2) at the beach today. She LOVES her walks on the boardwalk and beach...so many people and other dogs. We have a tough time walking since Bella wants to stop to say hello to EVERYONE...2 legged and 4 legged. She is such a hit...such a social little lady and everyone loves her...adults, kids, and other dogs. Bella is a great swimmer too. She swims across tide pools with such ease and delight. The owner of the pet shop we frequent has asked if Bella can be their spokes person because she looks so adorable in doggy attire and doesn't mind being dressed up. The owner and employees light up whenever we come through the door. We met a woman on the boardwalk who asked us if we would be interested in obtaining the 12-week training course so Bella can be in their special reading program at the library. The program is for special children, regular children learning to read as well as adults. The children read (teach dogs) to the dogs and learn much quicker since they don't feel they are being judged. We are seriously considering this offer. We think Bella would be perfect for the cause.
Bella weighs almost 7 lbs. now. She finished up her meds after 2 negative scrapings. We were given a clean bill of health. BTW, everyone at the vets love her too and the vet always takes her into the back so the staff can enjoy her. We will be scheduling her spay appointment for the first of December.
Bella is very intelligent and has learned a number of commands...sit, lie down, get your toy, jump, and she can jump up in our laps now without picking her up, where she spends most of her time. She rarely barks so we are still having a challenge to get her to communicate when she needs to go potty. Although we keep a close eye on her and take her out regularly. We have a puppy pen and as soon as she is finished her business she stands up on the side to let us know she is ready to come out.
Enjoy the pics!
Love & Light,
Ruthie, Ken & Bella
Andy...NY
Andy is doing great at his new home here In New York. I'm so glad to have him as a part of the family. He's energetic, funny, smart, and has a fabulous personality. He's a definite keeper. ---- UPDATE from 5 November, 2013 --
Just wanted to give you and AADR an update on Andy. Andy is doing very well. He has adjusted completely to his new life in the big city of New York. since arriving in March 2012. He is quite the character - still loves to give kisses (that will never change), loves to cuddle on the couch with me and others who he has grown to love (resting his big head on laps.lol), loves to eat - I guess that comes natural since I don't go without missing a damn meal. haha. Actually I nicknamed him Buffalo Butt!!!- which he responds to. lol. Andy is perhaps one of the most intelligent dogs that I have ever owned. Even when I take him to day camp, oh my god, the folks there loves him. They actually call him their little guy and always asks "when am I bringing him back?". He even has a girl friend at day camp named Beauty. + a little buddy that lives across the street from me named Snoopy (also a Dachshund).
Considering even adopting another :-)
Again, would like to say THANK YOU for allowing my home to be Andy's Forever home.
Attached are some pics.
Thx,
Chandler
Idgie..KY
I have a couple of really cute pictures of Idgie playing with her best buddy Smokey. She has settled in very nicely and seems very happy. We have a couple of hoodies that we keep on her and she stays nice and warm.
We all love her and enjoy pampering her. Smokey is 11, but still has a lot of puppy in him.
Kind Regards,
Jim
