Happy Tales
Every one of these Dachshunds has been rescued by an angel...
Harley's Brave Journey Harley's Story is a great inspiration to AADR because it shows that no matter how desperate the situation, saving one life makes the ultimate difference. DeeAnn, Harley's foster mom, has included her personal account with Harley's amazing story and where he is now.Harley was found homeless and sick. He only had a 50% chance of survival. Now he is living a life of true happiness and contentment. Read More...

Trevor..TN
Dooley(Trevor) is the absolute love of our lives!!! He is simply the best puppy ever. Fitting right in and has inspired our two senior dogs to be young again. Our oldest…who is 15 and deaf and has never played with others a day in his life(he thinks he is human) has decided to wrestle and play with Dooley non-stop. It has been wonderful to watch and makes my heart happy!! Needless to say, we have been overjoyed and are truly blessed beyond words to have this little guy a part of our lives. It was meant to be. See attached picture. We took this of him around Halloween. He is the cutest!! Feel free to use on your website. Once again, thank you and thanks to American Dachshund Rescue for all that they do. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and yours.
Tucker #6..DE
Tucker is just amazing. David and I are convinced that he is the perfect dog, apart from his shoe fettish! =). He does very well on walks and loves doing obedience training, especially when I use meat treats. Tomorrow is his big surgery to get fixed and I am nervous about that but I am sure he will be just fine. He is also doing very well at potty training, and knows how to use the doggy door to get outside. He loves to run around the apartment, zipping from one room to the other with lighting speed! his cornering skill is incredible, and I cant wait to start him on agility training; I know he will be fantastic at it. He is also such a big snuggle bug! his favorite times of day are in the evening when he and David and I sit down to watch an episode on tv and early in the morning when we just wake up. Both time he loves to sit in our laps and get hugs. His waggy tail and puppy kisses are the best welcome home when I get back from work. I love to sit down on the floor and have him jump into my lap. He gets up on his hind legs and gives me a hug around the neck. I am so very happy that we adopted him! I have posted a TON of pictures on facebook. please feel free to use the link below and copy the pictures to put on your website. Thank you again for allowing David and I to adopt Mr. Tucker!!
Tandy...FL
She is doing great! She got some misinformation somehow that it was OK to poop in the dining room. I started her and Oscar (the little boy I adopted a few weeks before Tandy from AADR(now Kandy Kane, because she is so sweet) on a schedule. I am up at 6:30 or so, I feed them then we immediately go for a long walk. Whenever she poops or pees on the walk she gets a treat (actually it is just a piece of kibble from her Hill’s Science Diet W/D food and is taken from the amount I usually feed her). I take them out again around 10 or so and then again after their evening meal with the same routine. For the past 4 or 5 weeks she has not pooped in the house at all. She sleeps right next to me under the covers and Oscar sleeps in his bed on top of the covers. They play and play and when I throw the ball, I never know who is going to bring it back. I recently bought a figurine from Hot Diggity Dogs of a little dachshund in a red and white striped candy cane. It sits on my desk at work to remind me of my sweet girl.
Thanks, AADR for these sweet dogs. Kandy is the 4th dog I have adopted in the past 10 years.

Tiger 3...NY
UPDATED 2 February 2013 -- Well tiger ( AZ 4) has a new name Sheldon, and he answers to it even on his first day home. He's doing great he really is. Loves his walks, the dog park, and going for car rides. Dinner time is special also as he dances around the table just like my other one did when I still had him. You could see him on the Rainbow Bridge page is name was Mr.Chip. We never had a doxie climb up on the bay window before to look at us leave etc but it is nice to get a wave good-by "He's quick with a kiss and than the cuddle starts with you all night if you let him. He's great company, "my therapy pup". He is great with people all people kids included and that's A good thing. Sometimes he acts a little scared? still getting use to everything here more than likely. The bonding is going great as he does follow us around the house and outside he's johnny on the spot right next to me! he's a good pup. I'm still trying to get him on FB with pic's but I'm new to the program and still learning, soon. We are having a meet and Greet Sheldon on the 9th of March with our family friends should be nice! You'll get pic's for sure. Thanks for asking how he is I'm so happy with him and have Sammy's page to thank for it. Take Care Sincerely Charles H.=======INITIAL STORY Follows======
Diane... Well to start with Tiger's new name is Sheldon and he answers to it every time without fail. The crowd here didn't like his name as all thought it was a cats name. He has taken to us like we were the only people in his life, Chris is thrilled with him as I am as we got more than what we hoped for thanks. He's lighting up the neighborhood with his personality and looks, loves his dinner time and his walks. Friday he went on his first car ride as we went to the land fill and the lake, he loved it and he finally barked on Friday afternoon. Saturday a few more barks along with Sunday. Today he let it all out at the vets as I don't think he likes big dogs. He got along with May's doxie just fine. "Things to work out" but what a loud bark I love it! His potty routine is worked out now as he has finally work it out for the mornings and at night, glad that's over with as I know he needed time to figure things out and settle in. He does a few things like Mr. Chip did and it brings a little tear to our eyes here but he also does things that Chip never did, like look out from the bay window so I have a great mixture of things to come in time. Life is good. Here's his first Vet ck up for you, he has a small cough? Doc says it's probably a virus so he gave me some Clavamox for it no big deal. Other than that he's in great shape and spirit. Chris told me after she found out how close the Sheldon and bubba was that we should have taken the both of them! "So if Bubba doesn't work out give me a call I'll take him" Okay Diane gotta go and remove a washer again thanks for everything and I'll be in touch often just to let you know how things are. Sincerely Charles & Christine Herold
