Happy Tales

Every one of these Dachshunds has been rescued by an angel...

Harley's Brave Journey   Harley's Story is a great inspiration to AADR because it shows that no matter how desperate the situation, saving one life makes the ultimate difference. DeeAnn, Harley's foster mom, has included her personal account with Harley's amazing story and where he is now.Harley was found homeless and sick. He only had a 50% chance of survival. Now he is living a life of true happiness and contentment. Read More...

I have been meaning to send you a few pictures of Lolli (aka Dot) She and my mom's dog get along really well. All is well here. She has adjusted very well and seems happy. She probably needs a hair cut but we are going to wait til spring for that when it's a little warmer. Thank you for approving us to adopt her! We all love her very much! Teresa

Danny number 2.....GA

It’s hard to believe we’ve had our babies 8 months! They have acclimated well and enjoy playing with each other. They now chase each other around the house, barking playfully - it’s really funny when they tug on each other’s ears or tail to see if they can provoke the other to a game of hide-n-seek under the bed!
As you can see, they’ve become water-babies and love to drive the boat or swim in the lake (actually they like the boat better!) And they both love rolling in the sand - they only get to do that right before bath time. They still enjoy making new friends at the dog park - love the picture of the great dane with Danny! As you can
see, we are really enjoying our forever-dogs!

Hope you are all doing well! Thanks again for your part in bringing us Danny and Shadow! As you can imagine, they are a little spoiled - guess we’re doing our job!

Dub.....TN

The newest member of our family is doing fine but we have given him a new name. Our first dachshund was called Phoenix so we wanted to keep the southwest tradition and are calling our new boy Tucson. He is a joy to watch and is very happy in his new home. He has adjusted well and has had no problems as far as health, eating, playing, or anything else as far as we can tell. He traveled out of town last week with us and rode in the car remarkably well, curling up on the seat and sleeping while the car was moving. He was already potty trained and has had no accidents. When we take him out after meals, he does his business, but he has not learned to go to the door and bark to let us know that he needs to go out. We will work on that and are sure that he will learn to let us know soon. We have attached some photos of Tucson. He is hard to photograph because for some reason he doesn't want to stand still for the camera.

Dalton.....OH

Dalton is doing great. He has been such a great addition to our home. He's still in his ornery puppy stage but we're all having fun. Potty training is progressing nicely. We're doing daily walks, working on walking with the leash but making it fun and he has a new harness coming. He's outgrowing the one Diane & Ed gave us when we picked him up. We had a vet visit on June 13 and everyone at the clinic absolutely loved him. The vet gave him an A+ on the visit and said he looked fantastic. After having rescued before, when we lost Big Red, we knew when we were ready, there would be no other choice. It was just finding the right doxie for us. Dalton definitely fits in and has brought a lot of laughter and the welcome sound of puppy feet to our home. Attached is a pic taken not too long after we had gotten him home. I hope to take some more pictures of him (if I can get him to sit still). He's a handsome one.

Daisy number 16.....NC

Daisy is a joy.. We call her Miss Daisy.. and she is the sweetest old girl... She has picked up a little weight and she plays with our other rescue doxie’s. We think she may be a little hard of hearing but that really doesn’t bother her.. Everyone that meets her has fallen in love with her… We are thankful everyday for her
