Danny is a great little boy but he needs a strong pack leader. MORE coming soon!
Danny is happy to see you when you come home from work or if you've been gone for just some time. He has a mild case of anxiety that we are working on and the new owners will need to continue to work on. He would love a fenced in yard and another dog to play with or keep him company when you can't. He was given up in NC because they said he had aggression to his owners but we think that it's just a case of they were just not strong enough of a pack leader for Danny. He's shown one episode here and it was immediately corrected and we've not seen another incident since and he's been here almost three weeks. So if you are a push over then Danny's not the boy for you but if you are the leader of your pack then you'll have no problem out of him. He loves to be in your lap and would like to sleep in the big bed but we make him stay on the floor and after a couple of whines he's happy to sleep on his own doggie bed in the bedroom all night with no accidents.
We think older kids would be better 10 and up in age. Fenced yard a MUST for Danny boy but he'd love daily walks too. If you can provide all this for this special boy please contact his foster mom and apply today...he won't last long as beautiful and sweet as he is.

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
