Happy Tales
Every one of these Dachshunds has been rescued by an angel...
Harley's Brave Journey Harley's Story is a great inspiration to AADR because it shows that no matter how desperate the situation, saving one life makes the ultimate difference. DeeAnn, Harley's foster mom, has included her personal account with Harley's amazing story and where he is now.Harley was found homeless and sick. He only had a 50% chance of survival. Now he is living a life of true happiness and contentment. Read More...

Bijou...FL
Tootsie (Bijou) is doing great. She is my new little best friend. She is very afraid still, not of me, but of the outside. The birds singing or the wind just makes her want to pull back to the house. If you have any helpful hints on that I would love to hear them. She is still nervous around my husband and will run to be by my side if he is here, but she is not hiding anymore, so that is a big step for her. If I am not home, she now will sit on the couch even if he is there, another huge step for her. Tootsie gets along great with our older dog, they stay to themselves for the most part, but when I came home the other day, Tootsie was found lying by Remy's side!! Yea!!!
...We love her to pieces, she is so precious. Hopefully someday I will be able to take her places with me and she won't be afraid of her surroundings. No hurry though, we have lots of patience and if she prefers to stay home, that is where she can stay.
I am attaching a couple of pictures. One as the queen she is on my bed's pillows with her new toys. Her stern look is because she is a little possessive with her new toys, doesn't want them taken away. She will get it one day that this whole house is hers and no one will take it away. :)
Brady #2...NJ
Brady has adjusted well except for riding in a car. I think he might associate it with his transport here and fears that I might drive about an hour and a half and then will pass him off to someone else. On a recent trip to Ohio he did finally calm down and sleep most of the way. But on short trips around here he is still some anxious. When he first came I could never be out of his sight. He was at my heel where ever I went in the house. Even if he was asleep and I left the room he was instantly awake and following me. Now he is comfortable with me being out of his sight down the hall, as long as it is not too long. If I've been gone too long he comes looking for me. Then he stands in the hall and waits for me to finish and come back down the hall where he thinks I belong! He will actually sit in a different chair from me now. Not having lived with a doxie for 2 years I had forgotten some of their cute tricks. While in Ohio, they had about 3 inches of snow on the ground. I wondered what his reaction would be. I had to laugh when his first action was to roll in it until he was completely covered!
Bear #4...NC
Thanks for reaching out about an update on Bear. I'm not sure if you are aware but I am also a volunteer with AADR! I was Bear's foster mommy and we ended up adopting him.
He has adjusted really well. He has made his personal trail in our backyard where he runs the perimeter of the fence! He has also let it be known to the local squirrels that there is a new sheriff in town lol.
Bear has fit right in with the rest of the pack. Here is a picture. Bear is very active so it is a bit hard to capture a picture if me. However I find the picture below a cute one of him.
Brinkley...FL
Brinkley, now Morgan, is doing great!! Everyone cannot believe what a wonderful guy he is. We feel so blessed to have him in our family. ~ Cindy
Blondie #2...WV
Just wanted to again thank everyone who helped us extend out family to include Sonya (Blondie). She is so low-key and demands nothing. She just wants to be near us and to be loved. My husband and I, pretty much daily, ask each other how we ever got blessed enough to get Sonya. She is a joy in every way!
