BIO:

Brinkley was rescued along with his sister, Bella from an irresponsible breeder by Animal Control. Bella was in heat at the time and he had not been neutered; both just running down a street. Thankfully they were rescued.

Brinkley is full of energy and very curious. As with many dachshunds, he is stubborn & wants to do what he wants to do. However, in just a week he has made great progress in his listening skills.  Brinkley loves squeaky toys & will chase after them & retrieve when you throw them.  He is very smart as well.

He of course loves his little sister, Bella and will go lay with her a lot. They are very comical when they play.  He gets along good with our male & female dachshunds even though he takes their toys and food when he can get away with it. He so far has not gotten along with our cat and I am sure it is the first one he has seen.  Brinkley barks & chases him anytime he gets the chance.  He possibly could get along with one when given time as he is so sweet!

Brinkley is making progress in his housetraining by going outside more & more. As with other male dogs, he likes to spray, but after getting his male wrap, this has gone down. He is such a trooper in letting us put on his wrap and he doesn’t try to tear/pull it off.

This little boy is loving, handsome, and smart. Brinkley will bring lots of joy to any home. You will get double the joy by also adopting his sister, Bella!

More about Brinkley...FL

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
