Happy Tales
Every one of these Dachshunds has been rescued by an angel...
Harley's Brave Journey Harley's Story is a great inspiration to AADR because it shows that no matter how desperate the situation, saving one life makes the ultimate difference. DeeAnn, Harley's foster mom, has included her personal account with Harley's amazing story and where he is now.Harley was found homeless and sick. He only had a 50% chance of survival. Now he is living a life of true happiness and contentment. Read More...

Curlie...NY
Thank you for reaching out to our family. We have been so impressed with All American Dachshund Rescue - the organization has been great to work with, and genuinely invested in the families and dogs. So glad I found your organization online.
Curlie is doing great. He is a wonderful dog ... so loving and sweet. The description of his temperament was spot on. He has had a few accidents in the house, which we weren't expecting, but it's hard to tell if he's marking or nervous or confused, or whatever. We're trying to keep him on a regular schedule, which is helping a lot. Our existing dog Max always goes to the door to let us know if he needs to go out (aside from his scheduled walks in the morning and night) and I guess we assumed Curlie would have a similar approach. Our vet said he was certain Curlie would overcome this and encouraged using lots of positive reinforcement for eliminating outside. We're likewise certain he'll adjust and eliminate outside only with a bit more time. We just weren't used to such a scheduled approach, but a new family member requires a bit of adjustment for everyone, and we're all adjusting fine.
Curlie has fallen in love with all of us. Our daughter Karenna has bonded closely with him. Now that she's gone back to school after the holidays, he's attached himself to me. But he truly loves us all, and we love him. Our dog Max has also accepted Curlie (we were most worried about Max, but knew he would come around). They love to play fetch together, walk together and have even snuggled up close to each other on a few occasions, so they're getting along just fine.
Thanks again for inquiring about Curlie. We can't imagine being without him.
Kindly,
Melissa
Noel...TX
She has adjusted wonderfully.....it didn't take her no time at all. Her and my male dachshund, Jagger, get along great and play almost every minute of the day.
She's learned the doggie dog within a couple of hours of being home and enjoys being able to come and go as she pleases.......really enjoys sunning on the deck.
She had a parasite when I got her but my vet took care of that and said she's in perfect health. Everyone that sees her just loves her markings!
Leash training was a bit of a challenge but after a couple of weeks she got it. We walk at least a mile every evening when I get home and sometimes twice on the weekends.
She loves to cuddle and has to be touching either myself or Jagger when she sleeps.......neither one of us mind at all.
It took me a couple of years to finally decide to get another one since my boy is so sweet and doesn't have a mean bone in his body and I couldn't take the change of another dog being mean to him. I know that sounds funny but if you knew Jagger you would understand. With that being said I am sooooo glad Nikki came into our lives and I was able to give her a forever home and all the loving she can stand!
Sorry to ramble but these are my babies and I could talk all day about them.
Thanks again for contacting me and have a great day!
Weenie...VA
Winnie, formerly weenie, is doing very well. She loves to nose around the back yard and go for walks. She will start a training class in a week, so to get her out more around people, dogs and to learn commands. She loves to snuggle under her blanket and lay in the sun. -- Pam
Robin #2...FL
Robin has been doing excellent. When we took her to her first checkup with our vet at the beginning of this month, he was really pleased with not just how she looked health-wise but her behavior as well, especially considering she'd been a stray. She's getting along great with our other two dogs as well--they tried to boss her around at first, but she quickly asserted herself as the diva not to be messed with. ;) Now they play together, share toys, nap together on the dog bed, etc. Real brothers and sister.
Truly, she's a joy to be around, always full of excitement and love. We don't have too many pictures, but if I manage to get any good ones soon I'll send them your way. Thanks for checking up on her, we really appreciate it. :)

Herman..PA
I am a very happy chiweenie! I know my people love me, mom is always huggin, kissin me, rubbin my belly and today I got to go to Paw Print Gifts and spend the whole day with mom entertaining the customers that came in the shop. Mom and Dad's daughter owns a pet gift shop in Lititz, Pa. And mom volunteers once a week. You know my mom and dad are married 49 years and in all those years mom told me dad never ever came home from work and got on the floor and played with any of their other dogs, but he comes home now and gets down on the floor and plays with me. I feel real special!!! I love them! I am doing well, no accidents, am very mannerly and I just love to crawl under the covers with them and sleep in bed. Dad took me for a walk when we had nice weather and he said he had to walk fast, he couldn't believe I could walk so fast with such little legs. Every day is a new fun day here! I love you very much for being my foster mom but I want you to know I am happy with my furever people. Thanks for sending food and special treats, and my winter coat along with me. Mom told me to tell you, a big thank you for everything. I'll keep in touch. Love Herman
