Hey, I’m a Chiweenie and I love my people.... except for my face, you’d think I was all dachshund. I will follow you around everywhere.  If you let me, I will kiss you and show you how much love I have....and it's a whole lot. I’m am completely house broken and even use a doggie door. I walk great on a leash too. I can be a bit shy when I first meet you, but I warm up super quick.  I play great with my fosters brothers, even when mom brought home a new doggy, I became friends with them as soon as they will let me. Please watch my video showing how I play with my toys like a puppy.  I also ride great in the car.  Foster mommy and daddy tell me how good I am all the time.  As my profile pic says "Pure Love" is what you will get from me!

Herman would be a great dog for anyone, but if you do work, a play buddy would be best.  He has alot of energy and will play...but will snuggle with you and will sleep in too.

Please note - Herman is not a yappy chiweenie...he is typical dachshund that barks if an intruder is at the door :)

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
