Happy Tales
Every one of these Dachshunds has been rescued by an angel...
Harley's Brave Journey Harley's Story is a great inspiration to AADR because it shows that no matter how desperate the situation, saving one life makes the ultimate difference. DeeAnn, Harley's foster mom, has included her personal account with Harley's amazing story and where he is now.Harley was found homeless and sick. He only had a 50% chance of survival. Now he is living a life of true happiness and contentment. Read More...

Sadie #2...FL
We are all doing wonderful!!! Our little Sadie lady is very happy in her new home and is getting along great here with all her new friends. She loves playing, cuddling, and going on walks. Here are a few pictures of Sadie in the garden she likes to hide and jump out and then they all chase each other. It has been so much fun. She has been getting lots of exercise!!!
We feel so blessed to have Sadie!!! Thank you so much!!!
Sparky...NY
I've been meaning to email with an update on Sparky. He is doing very well and we love him. The vet proclaimed him perfect with a great personality. Then we loaded up on parasite and flea/tick prevention. She did say he should gain a little wait which he is quite happy to work on. He's gained about half a pound so far. He's learning to like riding in the car because we've taken him to the park a few times. He likes to play with his squeaky toys, hunt squirrels and worms in the back yard, and go for walks; but most of all he LOVES to be snoozing on a lap. I think he'd be happiest if his feet never touched the ground. At night he sleeps in his dog bed until we get up. Then he gallops around the house in anticipation of his morning meal, which is pretty much gone before it hits the bowl. After a trip out for business he snoozes on my lap while a drink my coffee. The only problem I'm having is getting to work on time. :)
He has met a few dogs and human neighbors and friends. He climbs right into everyone's lap. He's pretty friendly with dogs especially little dogs. Our neighbors across the street have two dachshunds so they ran right over to meet him. Which leads me to the question that I have. We are already thinking about getting another dachshund and could use some advice on the best timing. We've only ever had one dog at a time. Sparky seems to be quite at home with us already but I'm not sure if it's too soon to introduce a new dog. On the other hand, we don't want him to get too used to all the attention if he'll have to then re-adjust to sharing attention. What do you think?
It has been difficult to get good pictures of Sparky because he is so black. Here is one of him looking out the window where the sun is shining right on him.

Saban...NC
George (Saban, we changed his name) is doing wonderful!! He learned his new name within the first week!! He's a very smart boy, & eager to please. He caught on to our schedule & routines within the first couple of days.
> George is incredibly loving & affectionate--- he loves cuddling!! He climbs up your chest, stares lovingly into your eyes, & the lays his head down & goes to sleep. He also loves playing!! My daughters will throw a ball/toy for him nonstop & he excitedly plays fetch. (He's a bit stubborn on releasing the toy, he's working on that haha)
George instantly connected with our other mini Doxie, Daisey. She is 9, & we've had her since she was a pup. She is quite spoiled to say the least, so we expected her to need some time to adjust to George. But much to our surprise, they got along instantly. It was only day #2 of George living with us & he was cuddled up next to Daisey sharing her bed. He's a good man in knowing that when Daisey isn't wanting him near her, he goes in his own bed, or finds something else to do. (We women can have our mood swings haha)
He adores going for his walks. He is very friendly with dogs & humans. He let's his human sisters hold the leash now when we walk, at first he'd just stand there & not walk if I wasn't holding it.
George has stolen the hearts of our entire family. I honestly feel that fate brought us together, & he has completed our family. People say that rescuing a dog changes you. It's so very true! George has filled a void that I didn't even know was missing.
Daisey loves him, & they have formed a strong bond.
We are so grateful to have found George! And we are incredibly thankful for AADR! We are total advocates now for adopting over buying!!
Thank You!

Sierra...AL
She is doing GREAT!!!!! Her new name is Lucy. Lucy is a doll. She is so loving. We go on walks around the lake every afternoon. She adores my nieces who also adore her. Most days she hangs out at my parent's house while I go to work. Lucy loves to go there to play with their dachshund Olive. They chase each other, wrestle and nap together. It is very cute. She is a fabulous napper. She has adjusted very well. She is a super friendly dog to people we meet. Lucy has added so much to my life. She is a joy. I am very grateful to have gotten her from AADR. Thank you guys for all you do in saving dachshunds. -- Looks like Sierra is sticking her tongue out at the ones who left her behind!
