BIO UPDATE (8/23/2019):  Zya is a very sweet, adorable little girl that gets along well with all four of her foster siblings, both male and female.  She is coming along well with her potty training but is not quite there yet.  She’s only been at her foster home 6 days and has already made a lot of progress.  She is being rewarded with a treat every time she goes potty outside.  I don’t think it will be long before I can report that she’s got it down.  Her adopter will need to continue to work with her with praise and a treat every time she does her business outside, and take her out often.

BIO:  Are you home a lot? Have a young dog that needs a friend to play with and have a fenced yard? Well then Zya is your next best friend! She is all of that and more... she will keep you entertained with all her antics and she won’t destroy a toy, but she sure loves to squeak it to death! What we also know about Zya:

  • Fenced yard is a MUST
  • Needs another young dog to play with
  • Friendly to humans and older children
  • Laid back little girl
  • Needs someone to be home a lot to help her further her housetraining skills

This little girl is sweet as candy and friendly to all! She is pretty laid back and loves a lap to curl up in, she loves to be playful for a bit but then wants to chill, so if you have a dog that is like that and want a buddy for him/her then Zya is the one for you.

If you are a stay-at-home person, have another young dog and a fenced yard, please consider adding this little lady to your pack!

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults, Requires a yard, Leashtrained, Cratetrained, Affectionate

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
