BIO UPDATE (9/29/24):  Nadia is the sweetest little girl! She has come a long way since arriving in her foster home. She has settled in with her foster sisters and loves sharing doggie beds with them and learning to be a loving pet. Becoming more social, Nadia has met a couple of people and allowed them to pet her. She has a high prey drive and will need a fenced-in yard. Being an active pup, she loves chasing squirrels and birds and trying to catch them. We are still working on her potty training because, as with most retired breeders, she was not house-trained. Nadia has made great progress but still has accidents in the house, especially if it has been raining.

This little lady deserves a loving family of her own. If you have the patience to work with her, she will be a wonderful addition to your family and home.

BIO:  Nadia is a retired breeder dog. Because she has not been socialized, she will need an adopter who is accustomed to breeder dogs and knows that it is going to take time for her to trust her new human family. Nadia will need someone who will have patience with her while she learns to be a pet. The rewards (once she settles in) will be worth a million bucks! If you truly want to rescue a dog, Nadia is the girl for you. Help her become a cherished member of your family. She’ll be well worth the effort.

Our must-haves for little Miss Nadia are:

  • A fenced yard
  • Another small well-socialized dog to help her learn to trust and show her what it’s like to be a pet
  • Breeder dog experience is a plus
  • Someone who can be home more than not
  • No apartments, high-rises, or condos

If you think you can do this, please apply for her. Trust us, she’ll make a great pet with your help.

 ============= Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend.  We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest.  We just can't get them from one coast to the other.  Please look for dogs on your coast.
