BIO:
Vanilla came in with 6 other dogs here in Middle TN when the owner died. She was a little on the shy side when first coming in but has opened up once she has gotten comfortable with us and really enjoys the outside and fenced in yard. Many times we just find her out in the yard laying in the sun or shade. For this reason we think a yard that is fenced would be good for this little girl. She does like to bark at strange noises but has gotten better.
Vanilla likes to be the queen bee so we think a home either by herself or with a male dog would be best for her. She’s very pretty and the pictures don’t do her justice. We’ve had her for about 6 weeks and with some good food her coat is looking better but still has a ways to go. If you have the time, love and patience to continue to show her what it’s like to be a pet she’ll make a great dog for you. Please consider oh and did I tell you she comes with 6 mos of Heartgard?
More about Vanilla...SC
Good with Dogs, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
