Please meet Greta Garbo, she was left at a Animal Shelter in their night drop box with her son.  All American Dachshund Rescue stepped in and pulled these  two wire-haired dachshunds to give them a second chance.  We don’t know anything about their previous care but we know all about it now.  Greta is 5 yrs. old, up to date on all shots, has had her dental and is on Trifexis for heart worm prevention.  She is full of spunk and can be shy at first, but warms up very quickly.  Greta is crate-trained, house-trained if keep on a schedule, loves to walk, loves car rides and playing with her toy. Greta gets along with small dogs, large dogs and cats. Greta is so smart and learning new commands everyday.

Greta Garbo would very much enjoy sleeping in the big bed under the covers or in her own crate at night.  She will be a great addition to any home with all the love that she gives, she loves being on the couch next to me while I watch TV or playing with her toys.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
