BIO:

Zuree is a very high energy happy and playful boy. He must have a fenced yard and lots of activities to keep him busy. He is very playful and LOVES squeaky toys!!! If you like to throw a ball- this is the boy for you to get it. As Zuree is so active, he must have a home with a big fenced yard and may be a few kids over the age of 10 to play and play and play with him! He has a very high prey drive so no cats, birds or other small animals in the house. He loves to chase the squirrels that run along the fence of his foster moms house for days on end and bark at the birds.

Zuree loves everyone and everything so far- He LOVES to run and play all day long with his foster brother and sisters. He has the BEST temperament. When you say "kennel up" in he goes for his food, treats and naps or we are away from home- so totally kennel trained already.  He marches right outside and does his business with no problem. Zuree has spent time with multiple female and male dogs.

He is a perfectly healthy "blue" dachshund.  The "blue" Dachshund part is that it's a recessive gene and they are born with little or no hair at all. We don't know if he was bred this way on purpose or not. Zuree has little tiny baby hairs all over his body just like those hairless cats. He will need a sweater in the winter and if he's going to be out in the sun a long time then some sunscreen That's all!!!

He was named Zuree after the word azure that means blue- I thought Azure was a pretty odd name so we came up with Zuree- he has even started answering to it as well. Zuree loves to cuddle with you under a blanket to keep warm. He is such a unique and special looking little boy with the personality to match. Zuree would do best either in a family that has older children that are respective and understand dachshunds that will play ball, fetch and grab the squeaky toy.  He has a lot of energy and would also LOVE to have his very own furkid playmate to wrestle around with as well. Zuree is a dog for younger active people / family with a fenced back yard so he can be happy and be his dachshund self. He will kiss and love you always for taking him home furever!!!

More about Zuree...CA

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
