BIO:

Hi! My name is Louie! I am a fun loving playful little boy! My nose is long, and my body is beautiful! I love to play fetch. I think just saying “like” is not saying enough. I sleep, eat and play with my tennis ball. I love to chase the ball all day! I also love water, my foster mom says that’s pretty unusual for a dachshund, but I love to chew at the water coming out of the hose, jump and play around in the sprinklers and I’ll even jump in the bathtub for a bath! I get along with other dogs, kids and cats. I also have my moments where I sit on the sofa with my family and cuddle up. I love to go on my foster moms lap and snuggle up, and give her kisses in the ear! I am crate trained, potty trained, leash trained and love to go for car rides! I don’t bark much and play well with my foster brother and sisters. I can’t wait to find my forever home!

Louie is an absolute joy to foster. He is such a sweet little boy. He gets along with everyone, and every dog. He is definitely ball focused. I am also working on training him with a Frisbee. He would do best in an active home, with lots of tennis balls. He is an active dog, but also loves to lounge on the couch. He gets along with kids, and cats. He is a happy, loving well-mannered dog. He will be sure to make any home a happy one.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $25 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
