DeeAnn, Harley's foster mom, has included her personal account with Harley's amazing story and where he is now.Harley was found homeless and sick. He only had a 50% chance of survival. Loui....CA

Hi we rescued Louie from a Sacramento listing in the summer of 2010. He was about 3 and just neutered days before we picked him up. As it turned out he had a bad problem with marking the house and biting under certain circumstances. We almost gave up on him after two serious unprovoked bites. With the help of one of your more experienced members we kept working on it. He was found as a stray on the street very thin and, understandably so, food aggressive. I guess they were going to put him down until ADR stepped in. His eyes are what brought us to him they were so much like my Tanner that I had lost 6 months earlier. We were afraid with his temperament about allowing him around our grandkids, but he loves kids and is protective of them, just do not try to separate him from them at bed time. We feel he must have had abuse from his original owner, but we can now reach for him and pet him and he does not shy or growl. He is currently 90% house trained and understands if he slips - a diaper is in order for a few hours –he does hate it but it gets the message across. With lots of kindness he is becoming much more loving and likes being loved on. We have had to stay very strong with him when he bears his teeth or grows and have learned his triggers. After 1 and ½ years we finally have the upper hand, and rarely experience this bad behavior. It took about a year for us to experience his “ok I get it and trust you” change. He is a real cute little guy as you can see from this photo with Santa. Hope you can use it for your next years calendar. Thank You, Suzanne A. Saucier
