BEING FOSTERED IN ATWOL, MA!!
Hi my name is Zorro, I'm a wire hair.
Too much damage has been done to Zorro and he'll always be fearful of new people and situations. For that reason we need a quiet home with no children and not many visitors. If you have a fenced in yard and time to spend trying to make ZORRO understand that he will never be back in a puppymill sitting again than ZORRO is the one for you. Please give him the loving home he's been waiting for.
ZORRO also came from the puppymiller in MS that dumped these dogs at the animal shelters drop box in the middle of the night. This boy is shy but just needs to have someone hold him and love him and help him to come out of his shell. He's very sweet, just shy. He is heartworm NEGATIVE, on Interceptor and Frontline, and UTD on all shots. He has had a dental. ZORRO needs someone with a fenced in yard and maybe even another dachshund or two that can spend the time with him to help him understand that his life is just beginning, not ending. He is not leash trained and that's why a fenced in yard is best.

ZORRO NEEDS A FAMILY WITH ENOUGH PATIENCE TO HELP HIM LEARN TO BE HAPPY AND THAT PEOPLE ARE GOOD. IF YOU CAN HELP HIM LEARN TO TRUST, HE WILL PAY YOU BACK WITH LOVE.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
