DeeAnn, Harley's foster mom, has included her personal account with Harley's amazing story and where he is now.Harley was found homeless and sick. He only had a 50% chance of survival. Cam in....FL
Cam(meyer) is an absolute delight!!! We are so blessed to have been offered him, and he has fulfilled our dream of another "Oscar" our first Doxie who passed two years ago and for whom we never thought we would find any dog better than he. Well Cam(meyer) has exceeded our expectations. He certainly has become a "keeper".
Cam(meyer) loves to walk, not just around the block, but 2-4 miles per day throughout our small community. The sidewalks encompass the area and are approximately one mile for a complete lap. We both do at least one lap with him every day and he still wants more. The first three or four days he would piddle once on our walk and poop on one of the two or three. Now that he has adjusted to the neighborhood, he is marking trees, bushes, light posts, etc. ..... the walks now seem to take a few minutes longer with these stops. He has NO interest in our gecko lizards 2-3 inches long darting across the side walk, our pool lanai area and just about everywhere you walk. He doesn't like squirrels or kitty cats.
We are slowly trying to change his name to Meyer, ( As in Oscar - Meyer ) When we lost Oscar two years ago, the neighbors kept asking when was Meyer coming along.
He has learned when to bark, and is taking control (and ownership) of his new home. It was a bit confusing the first few days as we were having some new floors put and then the exterior and pool area of our house was being done and took a bit longer than planned. But he learns quickly.
We are both very happy with him.
Thank you for what your association does for the Doxies, and for us new owners. We are very happy with Cam(meyer).
