Happy Tales
Every one of these Dachshunds has been rescued by an angel...
Harley's Brave Journey Harley's Story is a great inspiration to AADR because it shows that no matter how desperate the situation, saving one life makes the ultimate difference. DeeAnn, Harley's foster mom, has included her personal account with Harley's amazing story and where he is now.Harley was found homeless and sick. He only had a 50% chance of survival. Now he is living a life of true happiness and contentment. Read More...

Pinky...TN
No story here except in pictures. Pinky was adopted by Ms. Ruth and it looks like she has travelled from the path of a high-kill shelter where AADR found her to the lap of luxury! From probably a plastic water dish and a hard floor to...crystal food and water dishes! Pinky, you are living the high life and we are so very happy for you and your wonderful forever mom!
Rocky...NY
From Rocky's forever home: He's doing really well, gets along great with my room mate and her dog, and when I go home my parents treat him like he is their grandchild! I enrolled us in training classes at petsmart to bond and socialize, he is a little scared of the bigger dogs but otherwise does great! We are still working on potty training but I think a lot of his accidents happen because it is cold outside and doesn't like being out long! I have some pictures on my laptop that I can send to you tomorrow! Thanks for checking in if I think of any questions I will be sure to send you an email!

CLIFFORD...NY
From Clifford's Furever home: Clifford is doing awesome. He is our treasure, our Angel. He has brought us so much joy over the past 3 weeks- words cannot even describe. We are truly honored to have him here with us, and we will always make sure that he gets all the love and respect he deserves. Basically- we are spoiling him rotten - but he deserves that and more. I will send pictures- not a problem. And we would love to enter him in your calendar contest. We will work on that.
You can email to check on Cliff any time- always.

BASIL..AL
From Susan: Hi Angie,
Thank you for asking about Basil. He is settling in quite nicely. He is playing with our other dog, Tess, who we adopted a year ago today (Halloween 2011). It took him a little bit to go outside in our backyard without me but once Tess goes he follows her around and seems to enjoy it. Loves laying in the warm sunshine. He does really well on the leash on our daily morning walks. He loves the toys that are available to him and he can't quite get enough of human contact. He does well with our 9 month old grandson. He eats up all the love we give him. He sleeps in our bed and does real well all night long until it's time to get up and he smothers my face with his kisses! We took him to our vet's canine carnival on Saturday and he was a bit overwhelmed with all the dogs that were there and was content to stay in our arms to whole time. He is a lovely boy and we feel he was sent to us by an angel called Rolo ( he was our wire-haired we had to say good bye to in August)...what a old soul Basil is and we feel blessed he's in our home. Hopefully, you can open the pics I've attached. If not let me know as I want you to be able to see how well he is doing. We were told by our vet that he appears to be 9 years old instead of 7 that we were told when we adopted him but that's ok...we love him and all his 2 teeth. :) he is eating well and loves his soft treats given to him by our vet.
From Billie: Basil has been an awesome addition to our home! He is a precious little guy that has a very sweet heart. Basil at first would not sleep in the big bed, he was content to sleep next to our bed in his doggy bed. The doggy bed has now been given over to holding all of his toys and he has moved to the big bed. He loves to snuggle and puts his head on the pillow like a person! He also loves to lay on the middle part of the sofa, and will often join Tess up there. Sometimes he loves to just lay out in the back yard in the sun for a bit on these cooler days. He and Tess love to wrestle and run around the house. It is a joy for us to experience how big his heart is! We are so lucky to have them both!!
Mary Kate...VA
Email from Mary Kate's Forever Home to Her Foster Mom: Hi Sandi
I just wanted to give you an update on MK. She had her first vet appointment this Saturday, and the vet was very impressed and didn’t really believe me that she was a rescue pup.
Other than that, she is adjusting well, the vet also noted that she was already very bonded to me which surprised him.
She is adjusting really well. She loves sitting with me on the couch and snoringJ. She also hides herself under a blanket which I think is really cute. She was a little whiny on Sunday and yesterday morning, but last night she was much better.
She and Kayce are mostly ignoring each other at this point, which is much better than if they were fighting. I’m sure they will be best friends really soon. I added a really cute picture of her that my friend took.
Thanks for taking care of her until she came into my life. She will have the best home with me and will be taken care of J
