Happy Tales
Every one of these Dachshunds has been rescued by an angel...
Harley's Brave Journey Harley's Story is a great inspiration to AADR because it shows that no matter how desperate the situation, saving one life makes the ultimate difference. DeeAnn, Harley's foster mom, has included her personal account with Harley's amazing story and where he is now.Harley was found homeless and sick. He only had a 50% chance of survival. Now he is living a life of true happiness and contentment. Read More...

Edward in AL
Edward came into AADR in a bad way. Poor boy lost and eye after coming into rescue due to an existing condition, then suffered an episode of IVDD... Still, this guy's tail never stopped wagging and he just kept loving on people who would pay attention to him. We were all so excited when he got his very own forever home. He even has a fur sister Ginger! This is what we heard from his mom Kerri:
"Sorry for the massive number of pics of little Edward, but he is so precious in them and I’m hoping you’ll put some on your website if happy adoption takes. Thanks again for sending me the love of my life"!
Kerri!
We couldn't post all of the pics, but this one shows the heart and soul of this boy (front) sharing a bed and staying warm in the winter with Ginger!
Eden #2.....MD
We get lots of pictures from Eden's forever home! Here is one of Eden (Ella now) dressed up for Christmas!!
Ernie
Ernie was adopted back in 2009! We recently received another update on this guy and his forever home.
I just wanted to update you on Ernie...Shortly after his 5th birthday this year, my husband and I moved. Also, I think I mentioned last year that Ernie has a new sister, Dixie (who is now 2 years old). The two of them are completely inseparable. They sleep together, play together, and seem to really love each other. Since moving down here, we have noticed that Ernie seems to be a lot happier, more relaxed, and more content. He loves the nicer weather and fresh air. We also take weekly walks around a trail on a nearby lake that he seems to really enjoy. These walks also keep him in really good physical shape! All in all, Ernie is very happy and healthy and enjoying having a new friend and playmate.
I hope all is well with you and your family...Have a wonderful holiday season!
Warm regards,
Allison
Eden #2.....MD
[Eden is] already strutting around the place like she owns it. The fancy couch pillows are also definitely hers, but I'm allowed to share if I want to cuddle. We do homework together, but only if I sit on the couch - if I sit at the table she pouts because she can't cuddle with me. She loves listening to my boyfriend play guitar and doesn't get too upset when I sing to her. And oh my goodness, belly rubs are her absolutely favorite thing.
I think we're still adjusting on certain things - like learning that her harness is for walking and not to take her to another home, and some separation anxiety when I leave for work. I think one she really feels like this is her forever home, she'll be less hesitant for walks and car rides. My boyfriend stays with her during the day so she's never really alone but, for obvious reasons, she gets nervous whenever one of us leaves. But so far, no major accidents or misunderstandings - she learned how to ask to go outside very quickly. Initially she avoided the stairs in my house - for which I was grateful - but then decided she hated being picked up and now insists on using the stairs. So we're still working on the positive reinforcement for her to let us pick her up so she's not jumping or climbing stairs and putting undue stress on her back.
We've had our first vet visit, to get her established and to treat tapeworms. That went much better than expected and even taught the staff about a new flea medication when I showed them what Ella had been on. Signed her up for the pet insurance plan through the Vet's office. We have the petmeds program for her flea medication and will add the heartworm medication after her current course is finished. I have to say, the vets were very impressed with the level of information your team sent and with how docile Ella was, even though she was scared.
Eli #3...TN
Kasper (formerly Eli) is doing fabulous. He just had his last round of shots and we will have him neutered as soon as his adult teeth come in (just in case any baby teeth are retained and need to be removed). He is growing like a weed and now weighs in at 9lbs. He is super snuggly and sweet and loves to give kisses. I will send some pictures in a separate email.
