BIO: Sadie is a beautiful longhair dachshund! She is very sweet and once she gets to know you, she expects lots of kisses. Sadie came to AADR from Florida; her owner passed away and she was left with family who either didn’t want her or could not afford her. Sadie has adjusted well in her foster home with her foster brothers and sisters but would prefer to have a family of her own.
Sadie is house-trained but if she gets scared she may have a little accident, but who doesn’t. She is very sensitive and curious and when she wants something she will sit up on her hind legs and beg. She would probably do best in a home without small children. Sadie doesn’t like for you to come at her fast, but she is very friendly.
Sadie would do well in a home by herself or with another dachshund. She gets along well with others. She follows her foster mom around the house wherever she goes and will lie down just about anywhere to wait on you. She would also make a good lap dog for a retired couple! She does okay in a kennel, but would prefer not to be in it. Sadie loves car rides and likes to look out the window or will just cuddle up in the seat next to you while you drive. If you think you have the perfect home for Sadie then fill out that application because this beautiful, sweet lady is waiting on the perfect home!
More about Sadie number 4....AL
Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
