Charlie 5 came from a family in Dover, TN that were moving and could only take one dog so they gave Charlie 5 up to rescue. They had young kids and we are thinking that the young kids helped Charlie 5 to get 10 lbs overweight!! Charlie 5 is very easy going and gets along with other dogs unless they are trying to take his dogie bed then he stands up for himself but other than that that's the only time he is arguementative. He would do very well in a home with another dachshund or by himself. He is housebroken but needs someone to help him get this weight off. So if you walk alot and work outside a lot where Charlie 5 could join you please consider giving him a forever home. As he would lose weight he'd get more energy. It has been discovered that CHARLIE5 has a grade 2 heart murmur but does not require medication for and he also seems to not do well in the very cold climate so we are only adopting CHARLIE5 out to the southern region of the USA, from TN south. Please give this wonderful, easy going guy a forever home where he won't have to worry about being the one that's given up because his family has to move. Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.
More about CHARLIE5...MA
Good with Dogs, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
