BIO:  Hi, I’m Scooter and I was found in my home with my deceased owner. I was taken to this place called a shelter in AL where I was scared and missed my owner BUT then this kind lady came and got me and my life has been wonderful since.

They got me a fresh dental and lots of other doggies to play with and did I tell you I LOVE to play! I will lay in your lap when you have down time but I love to play with other dogs, I love it. So you need to have another younger dog who loves to play too. Also a fenced in yard is a must too so we can play outside in the snow or when it gets nice and the grass turns green.

I do like to bark if I hear strange noises outside so I would not be good in an apartment or condo but a house with a fenced yard is my dream. Please make my dream come true! I love going for walks and meeting new people, I’m not shy at all and I like other dogs too if they let me check them out.

Scooter does well if kept on a schedule and he crates just fine if you have to leave. Scooter is a wonderful boy after being dumped by the owners family that didn’t want him after his owner died, this has to be his last family so please think carefully before you apply, are you ready for a 10+ yr commitment to Scooter?

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
