BIO:

Hi everyone, my name is AJ! I am a 6-year-old, handsome red smooth coat Dachshund. I have been with my foster mom and dad for a few months and they have learned all about how sweet I am. They just told me today that my very own furever home is out there.

A little about me, I came from a shelter in Alabama and the nice humans with AADR drove me all the way to Tennessee. I stayed in the halfway house for a few days and had to go to the vet and get my teeth cleaned. I then went on another road trip to Knoxville, Tennessee to get to my foster mom and dads house. I’ve been here ever since. Needless to say, I ride good in the car and love going for rides and walks.

My foster mom says I am a great Dachshund, I am a good boy and am house trained, crate trained, and leash trained. When I first got here I wanted to mark, but I learned not to in less than a week. I get along great with the other dogs in the house and I ignore the cat. I am very sweet and want to be with my humans where ever they are in the house.

Right now, I sleep in a crate in my foster mom and dads bedroom, but would love to sleep in the big bed with you. I am not a barker, in two months my foster mom has heard me bark two or three times, so I would do well in a house or an apartment/condo. I am also really good on the leash and love to go for walks, so if you don’t have a fenced in yard that is ok too.

While I love my foster home, I am ready for my very own furever home. I know you’re out there, you just haven’t seen me yet. Please consider adopting me. If you are interested, please fill out an application at www.allamericandachshundrescue.org and email my foster mom at iteresa13@gmail.com. We look forward to hearing from you!

More about AJ.....TN

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
