Ainsley is a sweet little girl who deserves a lot of love and attention. She’s a little skittish especially when you make quick and sudden movements when you try to come near her or when you try to pick her up. But that’s when a lot of soothing words go a long way with her. She is, however, a cuddle bug – always wanting to be everywhere you are, by your side, in your lap, giving you kisses. She gets along well with dogs, especially with dogs that are her size and are not so hyper. She does well with cats. We have two cats and she doesn’t go after them at all. She’s not too keen on strangers coming near her, however with some reassurance she warms up to new people. She is not aggressive by any means. She’s just a little skittish and unsure of herself. With constant socialization I think she would improve. Ainsley is crate trained and she is housetrained as long as she is kept on a schedule. We’ve been taking her out in the mornings, after work and in the evenings and she hasn’t made any messes. She enjoys chewing on rawhide chew toys. She does very well on a leash and she enjoys going out for walks! But a backyard would be great for her, too, as we have one and she likes spending time out there with our dachshund Charlie. She has adjusted well since we’ve gotten her and I believe she would adjust even better in a forever home. She would be a great companion for a loving family. If you are interested in her please e-mail me at sandvchips7@yahoo.com and fill out the application and mention that you are interested in Ainsley. Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.
More about AINSLEY...NY
Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
