BIO:

Hi everyone! My name is Bear and I am a handsome long hair, black and tan miniature dachshund. I am 12 years old and have found myself in a foster home. Until now, I lived with the same family and my ½ brother in the garage since I was a puppy. Then we were given away because a grandchild was moving in, the family didn’t want us anymore. I am good with children, I played at the All American Dachshund Rescue Halfway House with one of the volunteer’s child of 7. I had a great time.

A little about me... I am house-trained, leash-trained, and crate-trained. I am fully vetted and get along with my foster brothers and sister. I really like toys, especially the plush ones with squeakies in them. My foster mom said I don’t even look like I am 12 years old and said I am the sweetest boy ever! She said she just doesn’t understand why I was given away, neither do I.

I am looking for my furever home. I would prefer a fenced-in yard, but I am fine with being taken out on a leash. I would like short walks, but since I am a miniature dachshund, I probably wouldn’t do well with anything too long or strenuous. I am a sweet boy and just want a warm lap to sit on and share my time with. Are you my furever person? If you give me your heart, I’ll give you mine!

For more information on me, please email my foster mom Teresa at iteresa13@gmail.com.

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
