BIO:  Apricot is a sweet, sweet girl and once she gets to know you she is very loving and friendly! She does warm slowly and we think the reason is because she was abused. She does not like small children, she will bark at them and acts afraid of them. She however, is good with children 12 and over who are quiet, respectful young adults. She is playful with other dogs so another younger dog for her to play with would be best and she gets along with male and female dogs. Cats are unknown at this time. We really think Apricot would benefit with another friendly well-adjusted dog and a fenced-in yard so she could run and play outside but then have cuddle time inside when you are available.  If you could help her get over her shyness, Apricot will make a great dog for someone that’s up to the challenge of helping her be a better dog and companion. Truthfully, you will not be sorry you did!

If you are local to the middle TN area and would like to come see Apricot at our new Halfway House, you are welcome to e-mail the foster mom to make an appointment to come see her AFTER you have filled out the online adoption application. Good luck and we hope to see her in a new and wonderful forever home very soon. You won’t be sorry, she’s a beautiful little girl inside and out!

If you are interested in Apricot, please fill out an application at www.allamericandachshundrescue.org. We look forward to hearing from you soon!

More about Apricot.....FL

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
