BIO:  Hi my name is Rhoda! I was rescued from a shelter in AL and it was a very scary place. I was so glad when that a very nice person showed up to take me out of that bad place. The dachshund rescue that saved me has had me all vetted with all my shots and heartworm tested. When I had my dental, I lost some of my teeth, but that does not hinder me in eating dry dog food. You will just have to moisten it a little. My coat was in really bad shape and now it is all nice and clean and growing back. Now I am ready for my very own furever home!

Allow me to brag a little about myself. I am completely housebroken and have not had one accident in the house since coming to my foster home. Foster mommy says that she is so proud of me! I will use the pee pad during the day while foster mommy is at work. I am crate trained and will sleep all night in the crate under my blankie without making a peep. It helps to get a small treat for going in the crate. I am leash trained and love to be outside as long as someone is outside with me. I love to snuggle beside you under my blankie when you are on the sofa. I am not real big on sitting on your lap, but over time, I probably would become a great lap dog. If my furever home has children, they need to be older and know how to treat small dogs. Young children would scare me. You will need to go slow at first and let me get accustomed to your home because I am a little afraid. As you know, it is a very scary world out there.

Foster mommy says that I am the sweeties and gentlest little furbaby and that I will make a great addition to anyone’s home. Please consider adopting and making me your next furbaby.  If you have any questions about me please email my foster mommy and she will answer all your questions. Please go on line to All American Dachshund Rescue and put in an app for me. I will love you unconditionally and give lots of doggie kisses!

More about Rhoda.....FL

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
