BIO:

Hi everyone, my name is Morgan! I am a handsome smooth-coat red (red sable), 5 year old Dachshund. I was found wandering the streets in Bell County KY, when someone at animal control decided to pick me up and bring me to a shelter. The shelter place was scary, everyone staying there was scared and wondering what happened to their people to end up in such a place. I got lucky, one of the vet technicians in training got a hold of AADR and brought me home for a few days until they could get me to Tennessee. They gave me some medicine for my itchy dry skin (dermatitis) and I have to take two baths a week until my coat is back in tiptop shape. I also had some parasites in my belly and some yeast in my ears, but the nice vet tech girl donated all my meds to AADR so I could get better before going to my forever home. I am a very good boy because I let you put the drops in my ears and take my pills without complaint everyday. I am even ok with have a bath twice a week.

I have been neutered, had a dental, and am now up to date on all my shots. It’s time I put myself out there to find my forever home. I love my foster bothers and sisters, even the kitty ones! I get along great with all the humans I’ve met, even the little ones. My temporary foster mom took me to work two different times and I was a good boy, no barking or growling. I also got to visit her momma in the nursing home, I decided to sit with her to make her know she was loved.

My foster momma says I am just about as perfect as you can find in a Dachshund. I am potty trained (to the doggie door or on a schedule), I am crate trained and leashed trained. I love playing with my foster bothers and sisters, so I would do best in a home with someone to play with. I love playing with squeaky toys and definitely love to snuggle. Warm laps and burrowing under the blankets are the best. I even got to sleep in the big bed one night and I went right to sleep and stayed asleep all night. I enjoy having a fenced-in yard, but if my forever home doesn’t have a fenced yard, that is ok, I am good at walking on the leash for exercise and potty.

Am I the Dachshund you’ve been looking for? Will you give me your heart? I’ll give you mine in return. For more information about me, email my foster mom Teresa at iteresa13@gmail.com

More about Morgan.....GA

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
