BIO: Ace came in with 2 other males from an owner in AL that had to give them up due to health reasons. While it broke her heart, she knew that she was doing what was best for them.

Ace came in very scared but is slowly warming up to all the females that he’s introduced to, but it may take longer for men.  He wants love and attention so someone that is willing to work with him and be patient will win his love and devotion.

He’s doing very well on a doggie door but will need consistency and rewards for learning to ask to go outside and for you to watch for his clues that he has to go. Ace is completely crate-trained so putting him in a crate while you are at work would work for him.

We do think that Ace needs a fenced-in yard and another well-socialized dog to learn from and after a short time, he’ll act like he’s always been in your home.

Will you take a chance on Ace?  He sure will make it worth your while if you would!

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal. 

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 Fee added for the required Health Certificate. 

We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.

We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of $45.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another $50.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.

We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well.  For now, please look for dogs on your coast.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
