UPDATE: 10/19/2015

I have been at my foster home for two weeks now and I am having a really good time. I learned really quickly that the doggy door allows me to go outside and play! Playing outside is my favorite thing to do so I would really like my forever family to have a fenced in yard where I can run as much as I want. I have 4 foster brothers and sisters and I love to chase them around the yard and steal their toys. I am doing really good going potty outside. Sometimes my foster mom has to wake me up and remind me but other than that I use the magic door to outside. I have started becoming more cautious about what I do because I don't want to get hurt. Right now I sleep in a crate at night but I would really love to be allowed to sleep in the big bed so that I can snuggle all night. Speaking of snuggles-- I hope you don't mind if I fall asked on your lap while you read or watch tv. I have finally figured out that I really really like to snuggle! I also really like to eat so my foster mom says that I need to be on a schedule for food so that I don't lose my figure.

As much as I love my foster family, I would love to find my forever family. If you would like to call me yours, please fill out an application.

BIO:

Hi my name is Jack! I am only 14 weeks old but those weeks have been hard ones. It all started when a very nice lady bought my brother, sister and I from a man at a Flea Market in Alabama. The man told her that we were old enough to be away from our mommy but we weren’t. The very nice lady saved our lives! We lived with her for several months but then we started to cost more money than she could afford. So, she called the amazing people at AADR and asked if they would help us find a forever home. Well, here we are in our foster home.

I love it here but I would really love to find a forever home. I am a curious little boy and have lots of energy and I have no fear. My foster family has nicknamed me ‘Evil Knievel’. I would really love to have a playmate that I can run and play with. I am really good with other dogs and I love to play. I also love to eat….. A LOT! I can be introduced to a cat if needed. Foster mommy tells me all of the time that I am a very good boy!! I have lots of wrinkles and beautiful tan eyes. Maybe one day I will grow into my wrinkles but foster mommy says that she hopes I keep my grumpy old man look!! Will you be my forever home?

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
