BIO:
Hi, my name is Zelda! I am a beautiful (that’s what foster mommy says) short haired black and tan standard Dachshund. I was found wandering outside in Lewisburg, TN, underweight and with yucky fleas and ticks on me. AADR took me in and they are going to find me my very own furever home. I went to the special doggie doctor and was cleaned up and got up to date on all my vaccines. I am very healthy.
I am very friendly and very curious of where I am. I really like to be outside in the fenced yard with the other Dachshunds in the house. I will ride in a car but am not too fond of it. I am completely housetrained once I get on a schedule and know how to use the doggie door. I was also introduced to a cat and just ignored him/her. I have foster brothers and sisters too and play often with my younger sister that is almost years old. I get along great with my foster brothers, just play with my sister more. I do bark if the door bell rings or someone knocks. Sometimes I will bark if my brother or sister barks first (for no reason), but I do not instigate the barking.
I do get anxious when you leave me alone for long periods. I am not fond of a crate. If you put in the crate I will cry and pout. Please just work with me so I get used to being by myself so I don't get nervous and know that I won't be abandoned again. It will help if I have a brother or sister to be with while you are gone.
I like to sit up on the couch with the other Dachshunds, and sleep in the doggie bed next to foster mommy’s big bed. If my furever home lets me sleep in the big bed, that would be nice too. I really like squeaky toys and having my blankie with me and will let you know when I want some pets from you by giving you a lick on the leg or putting my paws on your leg. It would be great if my furever home has a fenced in back yard, but if it doesn’t, I walk well on a leash.
I am a very sweet, laid back girl. I would love to find my very own furever home! Are you my furever home? If you have any questions about me, you can contact my foster mommy for more details or you can fill out an application for me by going to
