BIO:

Bear was rescued after he found himself abandoned at a shelter. We don’t know why he was there but we can tell you that whoever owned him before loved him very much!! He is a sweet and gentle boy who loves to snuggle and give kisses. He came to us about 5lbs over weight but we are working on that and he has lost 1lb already. We suspect that he was fed table scraps in his former life because he is quite the beggar!! He will sit on his hind legs and smile at you. J  Bear loves to play fetch with the new ball that his foster parents got for him. He will play for as long as you want to! He is house broken and does well with other dogs. He is not food aggressive but he is protective of his ball. He loves to walk and go for rides in the car and he does both really well. Bear would do well in a home with other dogs but he would also do well as an only dog. He loves to come and go through the doggie door as he pleases so a fenced back yard would be ideal for him.

Bear is a wonderful dog and whoever raised him did a phenomenal job! He is looking for a forever home where he can run, play, snuggle and be loved for the rest of his life.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
