BIO:  Bella is a hugger! She likes to get her paws around your neck and wrap around you!  She is a tiny, dainty thing- just 6.5 lbs. but she has a big personality!

Bella came to AADR after a Good Samaritan with 3 Dachshunds of her own took her in from someone who "didn't have time for her" (military= 10+ hrs/ day).  Knowing that she would be a precious pet for someone, but concerned about finding the best home for her (she was not spayed and had a cherry eye), the Good Samaritan entrusted AADR to find a perfect forever home for her.

Bella is young, likes to chase a ball, and is fine with other dogs.  She's gotten better about cats.  She loves children, but because she is tiny, a home with older kids would be best.  She meets strangers well, rides well in the car, and likes to be carried.  She would be a wonderful companion for a crazy dachshund person with a doggie stroller!  She will want to sleep in the big bed and be a constant companion.

She would be very sad if left alone for long periods or there was no one to play with.

If you are considering adding Bella to your pack, be mindful that she may be a nuisance to an older dog- with all that bouncing and prancing around.  Also consider that Bella craves attention and your current pets may be jealous... because she's just irresistibly cute! please fill out an application at www.allamericiandachshundrescue.org.

More about Bella number 14.....MI

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
